A roster of suitable candidates will be established for this post as a result of this selection process for fixed-term appointments against both established posts and positions funded by general temporary assistance (GTA).
Organisational context
The Immediate Office of the Prosecutor (IOP) provides support to the Prosecutor in the day-to-day fulfilment of his functions. The IOP contributes to the Office’s overall aims of being an effective and efficient organ which upholds the highest professional standards by participating in the implementation of best practices and performing a number of critical support, review and advisory functions, such as providing substantive advice and administrative assistance to the Prosecutor in the implementation of his functions, quality control and management of the Office. On behalf of the Prosecutor, the IOP also acts as an interface with the other organs of the Court ensuring effective inter-organ relations and communication as well as cooperation in the overall administration of the Court, and works closely with all components of the Office, to organise and hold meetings for senior management and record keeping in relation to those meetings, to implement the Prosecutor’s instructions on any matter so requested, and to ensure a consistency of standards and approach in line with the Prosecutor’s vision.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will serve in the IOP, reporting to the Adviser to the Prosecutor, and is responsible for the following:
- Provide support to the Prosecutor by preparing, convening and documenting all relevant meetings of the Senior Management of the Office including meetings of specific teams and / or working groups and all OTP staff meetings, including by liaising with OTP staff members and/or members of the other organs as applicable.
- Facilitate the decision making process at Senior management meetings and communicate the Prosecutor’s directives to OTP managers ensuring follow-up on their implementation and an efficient flow of communication within the Office.
- Advise the Adviser to the Prosecutor and the Prosecutor, as well as other senior managers of the Office, on opportunities to enhance senior management deliberations, meetings and communication.
- Provide support in analysing, preparing and drafting legal documents, background materials, speaking notes, presentations, speeches, selected correspondence and detailed minutes of meetings.
- Participate in meetings with government officials, representatives of international organisations or diplomats and take detailed minutes during meetings;
- Provide scheduling, administrative and logistical support to the meetings and missions of the Prosecutor; review meeting reports and monitor follow-up actions;
- Screen internship applications for the Immediate Office of the Prosecutor, manage and task interns of the Immediate Office as appropriate.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Essential Qualifications
Education:
- An advanced university degree in law, international relations, political science, or a related field. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years (4 years with a first level university degree) of relevant professional experience at the national or international level or comparable civil service.
- Experience in providing support to senior officials and in facilitating decision process at senior management meetings.
- Experience in analysing, preparing, drafting, reviewing and editing of complex legal documents.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with criminal law or international criminal law, international organisations and international relations;
- Excellent skills in communication, presentation, and drafting and an ability to prepare and present detailed and accurate meeting minutes as well as reports that are concise and accurately reflect the discussions; ability to pay attention to detail;
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills, with flexibility and ability to adjust in a highly dynamic environment;
- Excellent coordination and ability to interact with senior officials;
- Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines and under stress;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment and to maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
- Ability to keep strict standards of confidentiality; and
- Professional integrity.
Knowledge of Languages:
Proficiency in English is required. Working knowledge of French is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) would be considered an asset.

General Information
-Candidates appointed to posts at a P-5 grade or in the Director category are subject to a maximum aggregate length of service of seven years. This is pursuant to a decision of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP Resolution ICC-ASP/23/Res.2) to implement a tenure policy at the Court as of 1 January 2025.
- The selected candidate will be subject to a Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) process in accordance with ICC policy. The PSC process will include but will not be limited to, verification of the information provided in the personal history form and a criminal record check.

- Post to be filled by a national of a State Party to the ICC Statute, or of a State which has signed and is engaged in the ratification process or which is engaged in the accession process.
