This position is located in the Programme Management Unit (PMU), Office of the Chief, Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. Responsibilities

Within assigned authority, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties: • Contribute to the formulation, development, implementation, coordination, backstopping and evaluation of assigned technical cooperation programmes/projects and activities; provide technical and administrative support to programme/project development and implementation; review, draft and/or coordinate timely preparation and submission of relevant documents and reports; monitor budget, expenditure and utilization of funds; identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties, counterparts and stakeholders; identify and track follow-up actions. • Contribute to the formulation and preparation of the programme of work, work plans, public information and resource mobilization activities as well as the programme budget of the office/section/unit; attend to various administrative matters and participate in meetings concerning the overall programme of the office/section/unit. • Coordinate, prepare, review and ensure timely preparation and submission of relevant documents, briefing notes, policy inputs and reports in relation to corruption and economic crime; identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties, identify and track follow-up actions, ensuring the use of gender-inclusive language and indicators; • Provide technical and administrative support and technical expertise to specialized anti-corruption bodies and units on preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting cases of corruption and related offences; • Undertake advocacy and outreach activities; participate and assist in the development, organization, coordination, preparation and delivery of targeted anti-corruption training courses, workshops and seminars based on needs analysis, especially for key personnel in the area of prevention, criminalization, enforcement and asset recovery; participate in and make presentations on assigned topics/activities; • Provide administrative and substantive support and servicing to meetings of the Conference of the States Parties and its subsidiary bodies and support follow-up work and preparation of substantive documents to the same; • Contribute to the preparation and review of a variety of written outputs, such as background papers, correspondence with governments, working papers, mission reports, analyses, briefings, presentations, policy proposals and documents, legal documents and instruments, technical publications, regular and ad hoc reports, studies, summary reports, manuals, guides, toolkits, etc. to facilitate the implementation of the Convention; • Liaise with counterparts in UNODC, both in Vienna and in the field, and assist in building strategic partnerships; foster collaboration with relevant stakeholders in other parts of the United Nations, government officials, representatives of inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations, business partners, to obtain and exchange relevant information; • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting; • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Competencies

Has knowledge of the work of the United Nations in crime prevention and criminal justice, in particular substantive knowledge of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. Has good knowledge of the legislative aspects of preventing and combating corruption, including their international dimensions. Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in criminology, social science, international relations, political science, law, public administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice issues, preferably with a focus on corruption and economic crime or closely related issues OR the successful completion of the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is required. Two years of experience in the area of in technical cooperation, project or programme management, administration and implementation is desirable. Experience in supporting the organization and servicing of large inter-governmental or multi-stakeholder meetings is desirable. Experience working in the United Nations System or a similar international organization is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
