1. Organizational Context
a. Organizational Setting
The post is located within the Digital Engagement Service of the Customer Experience, Marketing and Digital Engagement Division (CXMDED) in the Infrastructure and Platforms Sector (IPS), which aims at providing corporate guidance, alignment, exchange of best practices and delivery of activities related to marketing and branding, digital engagement and customer experience, to inform strategic decisions and contribute to WIPO’s future business growth.
The Digital Engagement Service (DES) leads the design, planning, coordination and execution of the Organization's overall digital engagement strategy, in close collaboration with other areas of the Organization, to support WIPO’s growth, sustainability and digital innovation.
b. Purpose Statement
The Digital Content Officer provides expertise in WIPO’s web presence, with particular responsibility for maximizing engagement with the Organization’s content and improving discoverability for search and AI assistants, while supporting strong editorial standards for original content and usability.
c. Reporting Lines
The incumbent works under the supervision of the Head of Web Communications.
d. Work Relations
The incumbent works in close collaboration with subject-matter experts, analytics and usability specialists and content creators Organization-wide, in particular with colleagues in the News and Media Division, the Customer Experience Section, Information and Communication Technology Department and specialized business areas.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will perform the following principal duties\:
a. Contribute to formulating policy recommendations and long-term strategies that support the Organization's digital communication, stakeholder engagement and business growth goals.
b. Collaborate with subject-matter specialists and content creators to develop, enhance and optimize digital content to support WIPO business objectives, using insights on trending topics, audience research, web and AI analytics (including query patterns and performance trends on user intent gaps, content quality issues and high-demand topics).
c. Design and execute data driven digital campaigns to drive relevant traffic to priority web content, products, programs and events with the objective of supporting organizational goals. Support informed decision-making through operational dashboards and reporting on agreed metrics including delivery/progress, impact and cost.
d. Work with digital design colleagues and content owners to co-create audio visual elements such as infographics, images and videos that enhance and support web content and campaigns.
e. Research, evaluate and provide advice on appropriate tools, platforms and approaches to strengthen and expand audience engagements.
f. Represent the Digital Engagement Service in internal and external meetings, working groups and task forces. Monitor and respond to stakeholder feedback and engagement signals.
g. Provide capacity building support to colleagues on digital engagement best practices, delivery workflows, tools and emerging technologies to enhance and strengthen efficient and effective organizational digital capabilities and engagement.
h. Perform other related duties as required.
3. Requirements
Education (Essential)
First-level university degree in communications, digital marketing or other relevant fields.
Experience (Essential)
At least six years of experience in web or digital communications, preferably in an international setting, with a focus on content planning, creation and delivery.
Experience in writing and editing content for online platforms.
Experience in digital usability, content optimization or conversational content design.
Language (Essential)
Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
Language (Desirable)
Working knowledge of an additional UN language.

Annual salary\:
Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the February 2026 rate of 93.8%

Additional Information
Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
