Overview of positionBackground:
The project aims to support vulnerable households through the provision of livestock, poultry, and beekeeping equipment. To ensure quality, compliance with technical standards, and the health and productivity of animals, a qualified Para-veterinarian or Veterinarian is required to conduct technical inspections prior to distribution and during follow-up monitoring.
Purpose of the assignment:
To provide technical expertise a consultant in inspecting livestock, poultry, and beekeeping equipment to ensure they meet required health, safety, and quality standards before distribution to beneficiaries and to provide supervision during the distribution process.
The Para Veterinarian will:
Conduct physical inspection of livestock (cattle, goats, sheep, etc.) to verify:
Good health condition.
Appropriate age and weight.
Vaccination status.
Absence of visible diseases or defects.
Inspect poultry to ensure:
Proper health and breed standards.
Vaccination and disease-free status.
Suitable age and productivity level.
Inspect beekeeping equipment (beehives, protective gear, tools) to ensure:
Quality and durability.
Compliance with technical standards.
Suitability for local environmental conditions.
Other tasks:
Verify supplier compliance with agreed technical specifications.
Provide written inspection reports with clear findings and recommendations.
Advise the project team on necessary corrective actions, if required.
Provide basic technical guidance to beneficiaries on animal health and proper handling, where needed.
Support post-distribution monitoring related to livestock health and productivity.
Deliverables and timeline:
Livestock inspection report – Findings on health, age, vaccination, and diseases (by 12 March 2026).
Poultry inspection report – Health, breed, vaccination, and productivity status (by 12 March 2026).
Beekeeping equipment report – Quality, compliance, and suitability (by 12 March 2026).
Technical recommendations – Suggestions for improvements or replacements (by 13 March 2026).
Supervision report: On the distribution process. (by 25 March 2026).
Post-distribution monitoring report – Follow-up on livestock, poultry, and equipment performance (by 30 March 2026).
Required qualifications for Para Veterinarian:
Diploma or certified training in Animal Health / Veterinary Sciences.
Recognized certification from a reputable institution.
Required experience:
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant field experience (for Para Vet).
Proven experience in livestock health inspection and disease identification.
Experience working with poultry and small-scale livestock projects.
Knowledge of beekeeping equipment and basic apiculture practices is an asset.
