Project Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the DRU Team Lead, the consultant will support the implementation of the DRU’s 2026 workplan through regular primary data collection in Malopolskie voivodeship.
Between March and August 2026, DRU will conduct continuous data collection to monitor displacement dynamics, cross-border mobility, needs and intentions of refugees and migrants, return movements and transitions out of collective accommodation. The data collected will inform mission reporting, programme development, donor communication and policy engagement.
The consultant will carry out field data collection in line with DRU/DTM methodologies and IOM data protection and ethical standards.
Responsibilities
Conduct face-to-face interviews and other data-collection activities at assigned locations in Malopolskie using KoboToolbox in line with the provided methodology and daily/weekly targets.
Ensure accuracy, completeness and timely submission of all collected data.
Provide regular updates to the supervisor on field implementation, including operational challenges, access constraints, respondent feedback and protection concerns.
Strictly follow IOM data-protection, confidentiality and informed-consent procedures during all stages of data collection.
- Support in provision of information and protection referrals when to respondents when applicable.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in social sciences, migration studies, statistics, geography or a related field, or completed secondary education with relevant professional experience.
- Proven experience in conducting surveys, interviews or other field data-collection activities.
- Experience working with migrants, refugees or other vulnerable groups.
- Experience using KoboToolbox or similar digital data-collection tools is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently in field locations and meet deadlines.
Languages
Fluency in Ukrainian, and working knowledge of Polish and English are required.
Knowledge of Russian is desirable.

Notes
IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
