CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Electrical Supervisor to work in the Operations chapter.
The positions will be based at CIMMYT’s headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City.
Position Summary
The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. This includes emergency generators, UPS systems, substations, transformers, distribution panels, grounding systems, motors, and general electrical installations. The role ensures compliance with safety standards, proper use of PPE, and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
The supervisor also manages staff assignments, interprets technical diagrams, develops preventive maintenance schedules, monitors tools and materials, responds to electrical emergencies, and supports fire detection and suppression system maintenance.
Strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills are essential to guarantee the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the facility’s electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Operations
- Coordinate predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Assign tasks and maintenance tickets to electrical personnel.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and PPE usage.
- Interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Respond to electrical emergencies and report faults to management.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily inspection reports with findings and recommendations.
- Generate near miss reports and work permits for EHS.
- Record activities in D365 (tickets, work orders, KPIs, compliance reports).
- Prepare monthly maintenance reports in ISO-9001 format.
- Inventory & Resources
- Control daily inputs/outputs of supplies.
- Conduct monthly inventories of supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Evaluate condition of tools and equipment; develop annual maintenance programs.
- Manage purchase requisitions for supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Planning & Budgeting
- Develop annual preventive maintenance programs.
- Prepare annual current expenditure budget (OPEX).
- Define annual objectives for the workshop and staff.
- Plan annual training programs.
- Personnel Management
- Create staff shift rosters and weekly work plans.
- Conduct semi-annual performance evaluations.
- Manage vacation requests and overtime reports.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Technical expertise in electrical systems and installations.
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in maintenance management systems (e.g., D365).
- Organizational and reporting skills.
