This position is located in the Office of the Chief, Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties: • Act as the communications and outreach focal point for the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB) ensuring coherence across all programming, at HQ and in the field, including monitoring and reporting on developments; responding to communications-related inquiries; participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned communication projects, identify problems and issues to be addressed and proposing corrective actions; identify and track follow-up actions; • Contribute to the implementation of communication strategies that raise awareness, drive engagement, build support and have measurable impact with target audiences; • Contribute to development and coordination of strategic communications partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to reach target audiences and maximize impact; • Monitor, analyse and report on CEB’s communication approaches, activities and strategies to assess their performance and effectiveness; • Contribute to the production of creative communications across multiple media channels, with a special focus on content and the development of a shared CEB narrative in line with the CEB Communications Strategy and its workplan to better engage key stakeholders and to raise awareness of CEB’s efforts to prevent and counter corruption around the world; • Identify and propose topics for newsletters, fact sheets, brochures and other promotional materials, taking into account topic, target audience, production method and time-frame; • Contribute to producing or overseeing production of a specific type or types (e.g. print, broadcast, etc.) of communications products (e.g. press kits, press releases, feature articles, speeches, booklets, brochures, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, podcasts, briefing notes, etc.), to include proposing topics, undertaking research, determining appropriate medium and target audience, preparing production plans, writing drafts, obtaining clearances and finalizing texts, editing copy, and coordinating design approval, printing procedures and distribution; • Draft press releases, media advisories etc. to highlight launches of CEB publications, events and new initiatives; • Undertake advocacy and outreach activities related to and participate in the organization of meetings of the Conference of the States Parties and its subsidiary bodies and other UNODC meetings and international forums as required; • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting; • Perform other work-related duties as may be required.

Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field, is required. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area, OR the successful completion of the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is required. Two years work experience in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice issues, preferably with a focus on corruption and economic crime or closely related fields is desirable. Experience in technical cooperation, project or programme management, administration and implementation is desirable. Experience in supporting the organization and servicing of large inter-governmental or multi-stakeholder meetings, including experience in supporting the development of communication and outreach strategies and media engagement, is desirable. Experience working in the United Nations System or a similar international organization is desirable. Work experience with social media, including analytics and global social media campaigns, Canva graphic design is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
