Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading international humanitarian organization with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC is currently looking for Humanitarian Mine Action Assistants (NTS/EORE Assistants) (3) to join our team in Shostka and Sumy

About the job

Under the guidance of a supervisor, will carry out the following activities: Implementation of ExplosiveOrdnance Risk Education (EORE) and Implementation of Non-technical Survey (NTS).

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Conduct direct and online EORE sessions for adults, adolescents and children using standard andapproved methodologies and distribute EORE informational materials as instructed.
  • Implement NTS processes by collecting evidence of contamination by analyzing documents,conducting individual interviews and focus group discussions, and conducting visual observations.
  • Complete basic EORE/NTS documentation accurately and upload data and supportingdocumentation into the information management system.
  • Participate in the development of activity workplans and follow them accordingly.
  • Liaise with DRC Humanitarian Demining, Victim Assistance, and other DRC sectors to ensure anintegrated approach.
  • Liaise with community members to facilitate information exchange and support community needsassessments.
  • Upon request, support procurement efforts, including developing the required documentation.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have 1 year of practical experience in the relevant field, preferably in NGO. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Education: completed higher education.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including children and adolescents.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and high attention to details.
  • Languages: fluent in Ukrainian language; basic English skills.
  • Computer skills: basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel,PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable

  • Сertificates of successful completion of training in Non-Technical Survey and/or Explosive Ordnance Risk Education, Technical Survey, and practical experience in the relevant fields.
  • Skills of public speaking/conducting trainings, presentations or other activities with the audience inoffline and online formats.
  • Proven experience of interaction with children, adolescents and adults.
  • Negotiation skills and experience.
  • Stress resistance.

Duty Station: This recruitment is conducted for three HMA Assistant (NTS/EORE Assistant) positions based in Shostka and Sumy. Candidates are requested to indicate their preferred location in the application or during the next steps of the recruitment process.

Contract length: 3-month probation period with possible extension depending on performance and funding.

Start date: 01 April 2026.

Salary and conditions will be set in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
