Are you an expert in digital technology, food systems innovation and a great network builder driven by the desire to achieve maximum impact in the Global South? With advanced skills in relation- and project management, and a deep understanding of innovative technologies? Are you ready to take responsibility to steer our technology innovation portfolio and strategy?

Your responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the use of digital technologies to maximize impact in supporting food system innovators in the Global South.
• Develop and drive a focus strategy and roadmap for further deployment and utilization of digital technologies and establishing related additional activities.
• Formulate and share best practices (internally & externally), learnings and future positioning for WHH.
• Shape a network of like-minded technology experts, funders and contributors - connecting them to Welthungerhilfe Country programs and food system innovators in the Global South.
• Develop collaboration and learning formats putting the Welthungerhilfe Country Teams in the position to engage in and support digital innovation activities.
• Identify and pursue funding, partnership, and collaboration opportunities with the private sector, academic, and non-profit sectors to support the growth and sustainability of WHH digital technology ambition and all related activities.
• Oversee project scoping, planning, execution, and evaluation, ensuring efficient delivery of milestones of existing in-house technology projects and programs. Give impulses for what is needed for successful scaling and impact. Advise Welthungerhilfe Country Teams in fundraising, structuring and running tech-centric projects and partnerships.
• Build, lead and empower an international, remote team (incl. Free-lancers) and foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
• Represent Welthungerhilfe and advocate for our Food Systems Innovation work at internal and external events, workshops, and conferences to raise awareness and garner support.
• Identify technology levers for ’Zero Hunger’ on a healthy planet with high impact potential. Identify actors, relations and perspectives, barriers to entry and high-impact leverage points in food systems, through consultation, co-creation, and research collaboration.

Your profile

• Minimum 5 years of work experience and a minimum of 2 years in a leadership position
• Strong experience in digital strategy development and the leadership of complex, multi-stakeholder technology initiatives—from vision and roadmap definition to delivery and adoption
• Demonstrated experience applying advanced digital technologies across mobile app development, DevSecOps, data privacy & compliance, machine learning and Large Language Models, data and cloud engineering, advanced analytics, as well as scalable, secure digital architectures and business models
• Familiarity with innovation methodologies, impact investment, social entrepreneurship and business development
• Excellent networking skills and strong experience in relationship building and management; bringing an existing network in the area of technology innovation
• Excellent communication skills, cultural awareness, and ability to interact with higher level stakeholders (including government-, donor- and partner-representatives)
• Understanding of- and past work experience in the development cooperation sector, specifically related to food systems innovation topics, is an advantage
• Previous work experience in management of digital awards is an asset
• Excellent spoken and written English required; French or German as additional language would be a strong asset
