About the position
The Associate Director General’s Office is seeking a Senior Officer to provide strategic leadership in the design, coordination, and adaptation of institutional programs and cross‑portfolio initiatives under the guidance of the Associate Director General for Research Strategy and Innovation (ADG).
The role provides strategic advisory support to senior leaders, strengthens alignment across functions and regions, and ensures coherent delivery of organizational priorities. The incumbent leads the planning, implementation tracking, and follow‑up of commitments while producing high‑level analytical materials that inform decision-making. The position builds internal and external collaboration to sustain program delivery, respond to evolving institutional needs, and enhance the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas, located in the Campus of Palmira, Colombia. Non-Colombians relocating will receive an IRS contract.

Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the design,
adaptation, and implementation of institutional initiatives and strategic
projects under the ADG’s leadership, ensuring they respond to organizational
priorities, evolving client needs, team capacities, and operational or technological
conditions.
- Provide high‑level analytical,
organizational, and advisory support to senior leaders to strengthen alignment
across functions, programs, and regions, ensuring coherence, timely follow‑up
on commitments, and effective integration of new policies and institutional
directions, coordinating and monitoring the implementation of research and
institutional initiatives, ensuring that commitments arising from the ADG’s
leadership are delivered on schedule, meet quality standards, and respond to
evolving organizational needs.
- Drive cross‑cutting institutional
priorities by facilitating collaboration among units, addressing complex
challenges, and mobilizing teams to ensure consistent program delivery and
enhanced effectiveness of organizational initiatives ensuring strategic
alignment, stakeholder coordination, and the delivery of results that advance
organizational and portfolio‑level priorities.
- Collaborate closely with Lever
Directors, the Head of PISA, OPD, BOF, and other senior leaders to drive
institutional coordination, ensuring that the ADG’s strategic priorities are
consistently interpreted, aligned, and advanced across functions, programs, and
regions.
- Represent the ADG’s Office in
engagements with external stakeholders—including CGIAR Centers, the System
Office, donors, and strategic partners—ensuring effective communication,
strategic follow‑up, and fulfillment of institutional commitments.
- Lead the preparation of strategic briefs, reports, presentations,
and other high‑level analytical materials that support the ADG’s leadership,
decision‑making, and portfolio management.
Delivery Tasks
- Develop
implementation plans, timelines, and milestone tracking tools to guide
institutional initiatives.
- Ensure
adaptation of project activities based on emerging organizational priorities or
operational conditions.
- Produce
progress reports that synthesize achievements, risks, and recommend
adjustments.
- Prepare and
maintain follow-up matrices on commitments made by the ADG.
- Produce
analytical summaries and recommendations to senior leaders to facilitate
decision-making.
- Ensure timely
communication of institutional directions and policy updates across teams.

Qualifications
and requirements
- Master’s degree is required in a relevant field such as public
policy, international development, business administration, organizational
leadership, social sciences, agricultural sciences, environmental studies, or
other related disciplines.
- Significant experience in
program delivery and strategic coordination at the international level,
demonstrating the ability to manage complex institutional or portfolio‑wide
initiatives.
- Proven track record of
effectively partnering with senior leadership within complex, multicultural
organizations.
- Demonstrated success in
coordinating cross‑cutting initiatives involving multiple units, regions, and
diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in managing high‑level
relationships with external stakeholders, including donors, partners, and
international organizations.
- Strong ability to influence,
align, and mobilize diverse teams and stakeholders without direct authority,
ensuring coherent and timely program delivery.
- Excellent writing,
analytical synthesis, and presentation skills, with the capacity to produce
clear, high‑quality briefs, reports, and strategic documents for executive
audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
in English and Spanish (oral and written)
- Extended experience in similar positions.
- Substantial
experience in an ethics-focused role, preferably in an international
organization or corporate setting.
Terms
Of Employment
The position level is 10, on a scale of 14 levels,
with level 14 being the highest. The salary range will be established in
accordance with the regional/country standards. The contract will be for a
period of two (2) years, subject to a probationary period of 6 months, and is
renewable subject to performance, project needs and availability of funds.
