About the Group

UNOPS is on a Process Innovation and Digitalisation journey. The Programme aims to ensureUNOPS delivers the highest quality projects - sustainably, on time, and within budget - forpartners and beneficiaries. The Programme is expected to last until the end of 2027. It will enhance UNOPS’ operational efficiency, effectiveness, and agility by overhauling processes and leveraging digital technologies and solutions. It will improve UNOPS’ collection and use of data, capacity for foresight, capacityfor planning, knowledge management, and reporting.

Job Specific Context

This internship position is embedded within the Process Innovation and Digitalisation (PID) Programme, a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing UNOPS' operational efficiency and project delivery. The Programme Management Intern will support various PID projects, contributing to the overhaul of processes and the leveraging of digital technologies. This role offers practical experience in a dynamic environment, working closely with operations, programme, and project teams to meet the evolving needs of UNOPS stakeholders.


Learning Opportunities


The Programme Management intern will gain immersive, hands-on experience by supporting key digital transformation initiatives within a leading UN organization. Through direct involvement in impactful projects, the intern will sharpen technical competencies in data analysis, document management, and process optimization. This role offers a unique vantage point into global organizational operations, allowing the intern to develop practical knowledge in programme, project and change management. The intern will have access to the UNOPS Learning Zone and can access training in various Programme Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Coaching, and mandatory training as per UNOPS policy.

Role Purpose

The Programme Management Intern will provide essential support to the PID Programme, assisting in research, data analysis, document preparation, and project management tasks. The intern will contribute to the efficient daily operations of the Programme, working collaboratively with various teams to support the implementation of process improvement and digitalization initiatives.

Functions / Key Results Expected

1. Programme Support

Assist Programme Managers in research and analysis related to Programme implementation.

Support teams in data collection, review, and analysis, drafting documents, presentations, and guidance notes.

Assist with reporting data and communicating with colleagues for verification and additional information.

2. Project Assistance

Provide project management support and innovative solutions to project activities.

Assist Project teams on document management.

Support the identification and documentation of best practices and lessons learned.

3. Administrative Support

Assist with administrative, travel, procurement, HR, and logistics support required for the Programme.

Support system development and process improvement initiative, by contributing to the development of guidance materials such as manuals and procedures, as appropriate.

Education Requirements

Required:

  • The applicant should have completed a Minimum First level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), or be enrolled in a postgraduate program, or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the start date of the intern assignment.




Experience Requirements

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience


Desired

  • Experience in the use of various data management systems, platforms, and technologies is an asset.

  • Experience in writing and editing is desirable.

  • Experience in the use of project management tools is an asset.

  • Experience in the use of Google Suite is an advantage.
