Unit Context:
The ITS Data Office is the central entity within the World Bank Group’s Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) department responsible for enabling data, AI, information, and knowledge capabilities across the institution. It comprises four Units focused on platforms & tools, product & service delivery, enablement and governance. The office plays a pivotal role in advancing the Bank’s digital transformation, supporting business domains with trusted data, information and AI capabilities, and fostering a culture of responsible innovation.
The Platforms & Tools unit is responsible for building, integrating, and continuously modernizing the foundational technology infrastructure that powers data, AI, archives, and knowledge services across the World Bank Group. The unit leads the rationalization and simplification of legacy systems, and modernization towards platforms that are scalable, secure, interoperable, and designed for self-service and adoption. The unit plays a critical role in enabling enterprise-wide transformation by delivering data environments, digitization infrastructure, and open knowledge repositories that are AI-ready and aligned with business needs.
Duties and accountabilities:
Role Purpose:
The AI Solutions Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization’s research, development, and implementation of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to meet business needs. With guidance, this role identifies opportunities for AI technology application, optimizes existing models, and integrates AI technologies into current workflows to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The AI Solutions Analyst also supports business stakeholders with applying AI tools to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities: 
AI Solution Development & Architecture
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions within enterprise AI platform tools and accelerators

• Design, develop, and deploy AI agents to automate workflows and enhance operational efficiency

• Develop and optimize machine learning models, including LLMs, RAG architectures, and conversational AI systems

• Implement and fine-tune models across Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, and Google Vertex AI

• Develop end-to-end AI solutions from conception through deployment and monitoring

• Design solutions that balance performance, cost, and scalability

• Contribute to the development of reusable components, frameworks, and templates that accelerate AI solution delivery
Data Integration & Pipeline Engineering
• Build and maintain data pipelines for model training, evaluation, and inference

• Integrate disparate data sources into unified systems to enable comprehensive AI solutions

• Design and implement data pipelines optimized for AI/ML workloads

• Leverage AI techniques for data enrichment, quality improvement, and automated preprocessing

• Implement intelligent data validation, anomaly detection, and automated error handling
Standards & Best Practices
• Establish and document best practices for AI development, deployment, and maintenance

• Drive and enhance the use of AI-assisted software development tools and practices to improve engineering productivity and code quality

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and techniques for potential integration into enterprise AI platforms

• Ensure responsible AI practices including bias detection, explainability, and governance compliance

Business Engagement
• Act as subject matter expert assisting Line of Business (LOB) and business teams on driving their AI solutions aligned with enterprise blueprints

• Serve as a technical advisor to business partners on AI/ML capabilities and use cases

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and model specifications

• Collaborate with product owners to prioritize and scope AI initiatives

• Support proof-of-concept development to validate AI opportunities
Collaboration & Enablement
• Partner with data engineers, platform engineers, and architects to ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to operationalize models and scale solutions

• Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, code reviews, and technical presentations

• Support the adoption of enterprise AI tools and accelerators across the organization

Coaching & Technical Mentorship
• Drive AI solution delivery with contractor and consultant teams, ensuring quality and alignment with enterprise standards

• Provide technical guidance and oversight to vendor teams throughout the development lifecycle

• Conduct code reviews and promote engineering excellence across delivery teams

• Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops to build capability within extended teams

Selection Criteria

Education and Experience: 
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (for example in IT field: Bachelor’s Degree with min 1 year of related work experience).
