The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is implementing the Hydrogen-to-X (H2X) Program under the Korea Green New Deal Trust Fund (KGNDTF). The H2X Program aims to translate national hydrogen strategies into finance-ready, bankable project pipelines by linking partner-country priorities with Korean policy finance, private-sector capabilities, and global climate funds.
Embedded within GGGI’s H2G (Hydrogen to Green Growth) Initiative, the program operates across Asia, Africa, MENA, and LAC to develop policy-finance-linked hydrogen projects, facilitate structured private-sector engagement, and convene high-level cooperation platforms.
The Project Associate will support the operational, administrative, and analytical implementation of the H2X Program, ensuring effective coordination, event management, knowledge product administration, and financial proposal development.
The appointment is for 18 months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and budget availability.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Associate will provide operational and programmatic support to the H2X Program, including:
- Administrative and operational coordination across the program
- Logistics management for the annual H2G Global Forum and related workshops
- Operational management of knowledge products and publications
- Research and analytical support for the development of financial proposals and concept notes
- Coordination with internal units, regional offices, consultants, and private-sector partners
PURPOSE
The Project Associate ensures consistent quality and coordination across multiple interrelated processes of the H2X Program, including stakeholder consultations, financial proposal development, knowledge product management, and high-level event execution. The role contributes substantively by:
- Managing administrative processes supporting policy-finance-linked hydrogen project development
- Supporting preparation of ECA-linked concept notes and global climate fund proposals
- Coordinating logistics and documentation for high-level roundtables and the annual H2G Forum
- Supporting operational tracking of deliverables across multiple outputs and regions
The scope of work spans global coordination across HQ, regional offices, partner governments, private-sector stakeholders, and contracted service providers. The complexity lies in synchronizing administrative, analytical, and event-related processes across geographically dispersed stakeholders under strict donor timelines.
ENGAGEMENT
The Project Associate will engage with internal and external stakeholders primarily in a coordination, facilitation, and information-management capacity, under the guidance and direction of Program Leads and senior technical staff. The role will work closely with teams across HQ, Regional and Country Offices, as well as corporate functions such as Finance, Procurement, and Communications, supporting the consolidation of inputs, coordination of timelines, and preparation of project documentation and reporting.
All external engagement will be conducted within established guidance and protocols, with strategic positioning, negotiation, and representational responsibilities retained by senior staff.
The role requires strong communication, coordination, and documentation management skills to ensure operational coherence and quality control across multiple stakeholders and processes.
DELIVERY
The role is primarily focused on ensuring smooth program delivery, effective stakeholder coordination, and timely execution of operational process while providing analytical and proposal support as needed.
The Project Associate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of the following operational cycles:
1. Administrative & Operational Support
- Support procurement processes and consultant onboarding
- Track budgets and expenditure across outputs
- Maintain documentation, reporting files, and compliance records
- Support preparation of donor reports and internal updates
2. Event & Workshop Logistics
- Coordinate logistics for the annual H2G Global Forum
- Support organization of private-sector consultation workshops
- Liaise with PCOs and service providers
- Manage participant lists, invitations, materials, and post-event documentation
3. Knowledge Product Management
- Coordinate editing, formatting, internal review, and publication processes
- Track progress of concept notes, agenda papers, and analytical outputs
- Maintain structured documentation repository
4. Analytical & Research Support
- Conduct background research for hydrogen/H2X project concept development
- Support preparation of financial and climate fund proposal inputs
- Assist in data collection, drafting technical sections, and preparing presentations
Delivery requires close attention to detail, strong time management, and adherence to donor and institutional procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Policy, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, Public Policy, International Development, or other relevant fields.
- Master’s degree in relevant field is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in project management, climate/energy programs, sustainable finance, or international development.
- Experience supporting multi-country or multi-stakeholder projects preferred.
- Experience in event coordination and knowledge product management is desirable.
- Experience supporting proposal development (e.g., GCF, GEF, ECA-related, or other climate finance instruments) is an advantage.
Language
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
- Korean language proficiency is an asset.
- Proficiency in another UN official language (Arabic, French, or Spanish) is considered an advantage, particularly given the program’s engagement across Asia, Africa, MENA, and LAC regions.
FUNCTIONAL
- Strong organizational and administrative management skills
- Demonstrated analytical and research capacity in energy transition or climate finance topics
- Ability to manage multiple workflows and competing deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with budget tracking preferred
- Familiarity with the hydrogen value chain, sustainable infrastructure finance, or blended finance concepts is desirable
- Strong drafting and documentation skills

WORKING CONDITIONS
This is an X6 grade level in GGGI's Republic of Korea Salary Scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 48,312 per annum. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background and internal equity.
In addition to the base salary, the contract includes a 15% contribution toward a retirement or long-term savings plan, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance coverage (including dental and vision).
