Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) provides technical assistance related to combating terrorism, organized crime, corruption and drugs to requesting Member States. This assistance also supports States strengthening criminal justice and health systems and to ratify and successfully implement international conventions and protocols, in compliance with the rule of law and human rights. The UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime was established in 2013 to assist Member States in their struggle against cyber-related crimes through capacity building and technical assistance according to General Assembly resolution 65/230 (2011) and the resolutions 22/7 and 22/8 of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. The Programme not only builds upon previous results and analysis of the Organization, but addresses the interrelated aspects to cybercrime: prevention, detection, investigation, prosecution and sentencing/adjudication. Counting with solid expertise in each area of cyber-enabled and cyber-dependant crimes is necessary to ensure high-quality support and development of tailored products for Member States, private sector and civil society. The Global Programme is developing a focused cyber diplomacy portfolio that includes strengthening the communication strategy and products of the Programme to increase visibility and outreach among stakeholders. Under the supervision of the Cybercrime Programme Officer, the consultant will perform the following tasks: 1. Support the visibility and dissemination of products and initiatives of the Global Programme on Cybercrime, including generating communication products on the Internet (Website), as well as, through traditional media and social networks for the benefit of UNODC’s stakeholders. 2. Support the execution of the communication strategy of the Global Programme on Cybercrime. 3. Develop communication and visual products for the projects under implementation, including products for beneficiaries of the Global Programme on Cybercrime. 4. Contribute with content edition, production and postproduction of communication products generated to comply with the institutional graphic line and the communication guides of donors.

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in visual communication and/ or design, is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of visual design or video edition is required. Work experience in editing and post production is desirable. Previous work experience with an international organization in the field of visual design or content edition is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
