Program/Department Summary

Background:
The Community-owned Renewable Electrification (CORE) project is a 14 month project working closely with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Nigeria and other key stakeholders to create a sustainable and scalable framework for rural electrification. Through the creation of Rural Electrification and Utility Cooperatives (REUCS), REA is leading efforts to tackle the critical challenge of improving access to electricity in unserved and underserved communities across the country. Led by Mercy Corps—Energy 4 Impact (MC) and 2 other consortium partners, i.e., local partner Murty International and the Kigali Collaborative Research Centre (KCRC), the consortium is working in concert to deliver outputs that align with each partner’s core strengths as leaders in the energy sector.
