The Global Authentic Memory Initiative (GAMI) is a nonprofit building open cryptographic infrastructure that allows archives and memorial institutions to prove the long-term authenticity of their digital holdings — in a world where synthetic media makes it increasingly easy to fabricate or dismiss historical evidence.
We work directly with the German Federal Archives, Holocaust memorial sites, and international research institutions. Our team is growing, and we're looking for contributors in three areas:
Technical — cryptographic timestamps, institutional signature workflows, batch processing of large archival holdings, public verification interface.
Archives & Digital Humanities — workflow development with partner institutions, requirements analysis, integration with existing archival systems.
Communications & Outreach — institutional outreach, funding research, preparation of materials for diverse audiences.
We welcome interns (mandatory or voluntary, 2–6 months), working students (10–20 hrs/week), BA/MA thesis candidates, and volunteer contributors. All positions are available fully remote. When funding is secured, transition to paid positions is intended.
A short message to application@authenticmemory.org is enough to apply — no formal cover letter needed.
