Background
NRC Mozambique is implementing various Multi-Core Competency projects, which encompass activities focusing on Cash and Market Systems, economic inclusion and durable solutions activities in general involving multiple CCs such as shelter / WASH, ICLA and Education / Youth. The following is a brief description of the role. These projects are implemented by a multi core competency team composed of staff skilled with different areas of expertise. This team is led by a Multi Core Competency Coordinator who has the overall oversight of these projects.
Roles and responsibilities
The purpose of the Multi-Core Competency Coordinator position is to oversee under the supervision of the Area Program Manager and with technical support of the relevant CC Specialists the implementation of NRC’s multi-core competency project activities at all stages of the project cycle in Southern Cabo Delgado.
Generic Responsibilities
• Line management of Multi-Core Competency project field staff
• Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Multi-Core Competency projects (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
• Oversee delegated project budget (in cooperation with the Area Program Manager, Area Manager and CCs) and support with possible budget development
• Provide regular progress reports to Area Program Manager, Area Manager and the CC Specialists; promote and share ideas for improvement and recommend necessary changes in activities
• Contribute to the development of Area and CC strategies, participate in the development of relevant CC and thematic projects
• Ensure CC staff have access to relevant and sufficient technical guidance provided by the relevant CC Specialists
• Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and other key stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums / groups / working groups in Pemba.
• Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
• Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy;
Specific responsibilities:
• Provide guidance and lead the Multi-Core Competency team in ensuring implementation of the project activities with high quality standards
• Plan and coordinate activities based on informed decision-making through analysing indicator progress tools, budget spending tools, adherence to donor proposals and by elaborating, tracking and reviewing NRC workplans
• Support and provide technical assistance to the development of staff in their work roles and responsibilities
• Identify priorities, issues and challenges related to project implementation
• Develop technical tools and documents to implement these new projects
• Ensure collaboration and coordination with all relevant stakeholders, including NRC departments, local organizations, INGOs, government institutions and UN agencies. Promote partnerships with local organisations and other peer organisations.
• Identify synergies between NRC core competencies sectors such as education, shelter, WASH and ICLA
• Contribute to NRC’s programme integration through referrals and multi-sector assessments
• Support monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with the M&E department for indicator tracking and accountability to affected populations

Generic professional competencies
• University degree in in social sciences, development, rural development, environment, livelihoods, economics, and/or any other related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in project implementation and knowledge of project cycle management
• Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, preferably humanitarian context
• Experience working in at least one of the following sectors: Economic Recovery, Protection, Food Security and Livelihoods. Experience in multiple sectors / CCs projects (WASH, Shelter, Education) is a plus.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
