Major Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership and Capacity Strengthening (Nutrition)
Provide technical guidance to support partners and IRC staff in implementation of IMAM and IYCF-E programs.
Ensure all staff understand and implement program protocols used in the treatment of the acutely malnourished children and pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBW).
Ensure appropriate and consistent IYCF counseling and health and nutrition education messaging to mothers and other carers at IMAM sites and in the community.
Supervise and coordinate the implementation and monitoring of nutrition project activities in line with proposal targets and work plan timelines.
Develop monthly work plans for the sites with partners.
Facilitate the development and scheduling of any outreach/mobile team activities with partners.
Prepare field visit plans and supervision checklists in advance of trips and ensure that supervision reports are produced and recommendations acted upon with the partner
Perform quarterly program reviews to assess quality and identify course correction to improve program quality, effectiveness and coverage.
Participate in the pilot designed under ECHO with partners on Peanut Jaggery.
Assist with stock consumption/distribution plans for each of the project sites and ensure no diversion of stocks from IRC stores/sites in collaboration with the supply teams.
Conduct trainings to build the capacity of staffs, volunteers, partner staff and the community at large in identification and management of the malnourished and in prevention of malnutrition.
Coordinate with other IRC departments and implementing partners to develop training curricula and implementation plans.
Assist in response and management of any nutrition emergencies and participate in the development of disaster preparedness systems.
Conduct nutritional surveillance in the project sites based on agreed methodologies including surveys, process monitoring, coverage surveys, and other rapid methods.
Reporting and Coordination:
Represent IRC in Nutrition Coordination meetings with implementing partners and attend Nutrition cluster and other Nutrition /Health related forums.
Keep the nutrition coordinator informed of all developments through regular reports
Compile weekly, monthly reports and donor reports.
Supply chain
Work with the supply chain team to develop accurate and timely monthly nutrition orders and distribution plans.
Monitor utilization of IRC issued nutrition supplies, monitor and track IRC nutrition sector assets
Review of all nutrition program purchase requisitions
Finance and grant management
Prepare spending plans for the program based on the available budget at the field level.
Attend and participate in monthly budget review meetings, with records of updated expenditure and spending plans
Ensure adherence to the nutrition program budget by reviewing monthly expenditure
Provide recommendations and interventions to correct any identified deviations that impact on budget adherence
