Overview

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership (MCGL), funded by the U.S. Government, is a global mechanism that saves lives and improves access to quality, integrated health services by distributing life-saving commodities, medicines, and vaccines, and providing critical health care services for pregnant mothers and children under five. The project provides safe childbirth for mothers and babies, vaccinates children, treats deadly illnesses and malnutrition, and controls disease outbreaks.  

The IT Assistant provides efficient, service-oriented first-level technical support for end users, covering end-user computing, cloud collaboration tools, and modern workplace technologies. This role supports the day-to-day operation of IT services, ensuring reliable, secure, and responsive support for staff.

Working under the guidance of the Sr. Finance & Ops Manager, the IT Assistant supports IT operations at Jhpiego’s Nepal office in alignment with global IT standards, security requirements, and digital transformation priorities. This role requires an organized, customer-focused individual who is eager to learn emerging technologies and effectively supports users in a hybrid, cloud-enabled work environment.

Responsibilities

User Support

  • Provide IT support for Windows and Apple devices, including OS, hardware, software, and peripheral troubleshooting.
  • Support and configure Microsoft 365 (M365) applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and basic Power Platform usage.
  • Assist users with cloud-based collaboration tools, video conferencing, and remote working setups.
  • Configure and deploy end-user devices using standard images, Intune policies, and security baselines.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning, device setup, and access removal.
  • Join end-user computers to Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and apply endpoint security policies.
  • Ensure timely installation of security updates, antivirus, and endpoint protection tools.
  • Assist with conference room, AV, and virtual meeting setup and provide on-site/remote support for meetings and trainings.
  • Escalate and track service requests through the IT service desk system to ensure timely resolution.

 Networking

  • Provide basic support for LAN, WLAN, and WAN connectivity issues.
  • Coordinate with IT Service support/ vendors in addressing connectivity issues, maintaining network printers and multifunction devices (MFPs).
  • Escalate network issues involving switches, wireless access points, and firewalls to the Global IT network team.
  • Support secure backups of user devices and project data following Global IT guidance.

Compliance & Security

  • Support compliance with Jhpiego IT, data protection, and information security policies.
  • Assist in applying basic security best practices, including strong authentication, device security, and safe data handling.
  • Participate in IT projects related to cloud adoption, security improvements, and digital tools rollout.
  • Document system changes, configurations, and recurring issues.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate IT hardware and software inventory records.
  • Support management of Jhpiego-owned devices, loaner equipment, and mobile devices (phones, tablets).
  • Assist with IT asset disposal in line with Jhpiego policies and donor requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field OR equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of IT support experience
  • Foundational experience with Microsoft 365 and Windows operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of cloud services and modern workplace tools.
  • Familiarity with IT security principles and willingness to learn data protection practices.
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), or endpoint management tools.
  • Awareness of AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, AI features in M365).
  • Interest in digital innovation, automation, or process improvement.
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+.
