Job Description

Introduction

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office and direct supervision of the National
Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support
related to the implementation of project deliverables for addressing the challenges. The
incumbent will also support in implementing the project at the field level and will be part of
the programme development initiatives.

Responsibilities

1. Work and engage with migrant workers and the targeted communities
2. Support in data collection - related activities, develop and facilitate training and
workshops, conduct programme outreach, strengthen grassroots relationship
building exercises, and coordinate with implementing partners and
stakeholders of the project.
3. Contribute to increased knowledge and/or skills to understand the links
between climate change and migration
4. Support the establishment of networks with the government, civil society,
academia, non-governmental organizations and other relevant counterparts on
the climate mobility, climate change and disaster risk reduction nexus
5. Support the Indian programme team for diaspora engagement to leverage
support and contributions for locally led climate action
6. Support Implementing Partners in programme implementation with
deliverables related to migration mobility
7. Assist in coordinating outreach activities to enhance the impact of the project
in the targeted areas, using local experience and knowledge
8. Facilitate the translation of training modules, technical reports and proofread
translated materials to ensure alignment with original version(s).
9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  1. Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Sciences, Environment, Climate Change, Human Rights, migration/mobility or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
  2. High school diploma in the above fields with six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Possess a good understanding of Migration, displacement and labour mobility

  • Knowledge of climate change adaptation strategies 

  • Experience in research, project design and formulation, management and technical cooperation, preferably within the social development field. 

  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with national and international institutions.

  • Experience in liaising with senior government officials and civil society

Skills

  • Ability to work closely with officials from the government, international agencies, UN Agencies and civil society organisations

  • Demonstrated ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment.

  • Ability to work under pressure. 

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare a clear and concise report. 

  • Acquaintance with institutional and policy arrangements to address the human mobility dimensions of climate change

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting

  • Willingness to travel frequently for fieldwork
