Job Overview/Summary:
The Protection Officer (Child Protection) will work under the supervision of Protection Manager together with technical support from child protection specialist to lead Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS) activities and awareness-raising initiatives on child protection and child protection case management within the targeted communities. The role ensures the delivery of quality, inclusive and safe participation and child protection services for children while actively engaging communities and coordinating with relevant sectors and stakeholders. The role focuses on assessing staff capacity using the competency framework, promoting staff well-being and self-care, and ensuring the safety of the case management team while working in targeted communities. Central to this role is a strong commitment to safeguarding principles, confidentiality and adherence organization’s Code of Conduct, ensuring that all activities uphold the principles of protection, inclusiveness, and accountability to affected populations.

Major Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of SHLS and information dissemination activities on Child Protection in alignment with project objectives.
Develop and implement monthly and quarterly workplans for child protection activities.
Assist the Protection Manager to ensure effective internal integration and harmonized workplans across activities in collaboration with sector leads.
Regularly update and document the beneficiary data, attendance sheets, activities records, and monitoring data in accordance with MEAL guidelines.
Coordinate with relevant focal persons and participate in regular team meetings, coordination meetings and monitoring activities.
Assess SHLS facilitators’ capacities using the competency framework and identify areas for further skills development with the support from Protection Manager.
Lead delivering community awareness raising sessions, facilitate training and mentoring for SHLS facilitators and community volunteers as needed.
Ensure activities are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and accessible to children with disabilities.
Collaborate with community members, local authorities, and partner organizations to strengthen community participation in child protection and education activities.
Ensure that case management team maintains an up-to-date service mapping for their geographical area.
Support case workers in case planning, involving families as appropriate, particularly in high risk/ complex cases.
Support Case Workers to conduct case conferences (as necessary) with relevant service providers.
Prepare for and lead structured individual supervision sessions with each case worker.
Promote safeguarding, PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and Do-No-Harm principles in all activities, ensuring adherence to confidentiality.

What should you have?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree on Social Science, social work and Education.
Work Experience:
- Ability to work and adapt in Emergency context.
- At least 3 years of managerial/supervisory work experience in child protection in preventing part and education programming in emergency or humanitarian contexts.
- A strong understanding of Child Protection concepts, including minimum standards and guiding principles for working with children.
- Commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of children, preventing and responding to all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence, and ensuring that every child grows up in a protective and supportive environment.
- Adhere organization’s Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) standards at all times.
- Knowledge of child rights, child protection standards, and case management including CPIMS+.
- Understanding of local context, sensitivities, and needs pertains to child protection issues.
- Having background in building community participation in emergency response with a flexible approach and the ability to adapt behavior to different situations.
