Expected duration
The expected duration of this position is 6 months, with a possibility to extend for another 3 months. The position will begin on a part-time basis, with three working days per week during the first month, and transition to a full-time schedule thereafter.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located in Information Integrity Team in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications (OUSG) within the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The Information Integrity Team works at the intersection of policy, research and communications to uphold and strengthen information integrity, a key foundation for United Nations thematic priorities and operational mandates. The team’s work contributes to emerging normative frameworks for information integrity, actionable initiatives, coalition-building, strategic communications and tools to help policymakers and practitioners find effective solutions to address evolving risks across information landscapes. This role will begin on a part-time basis, with three working days per week during the first month, and transition to a full-time schedule thereafter. The incumbent will report to the Senior Adviser on Information Integrity in the OUSG. Within delegated authority, the Information Integrity Individual Contractor may be responsible for the following duties: • Provide general support to the coordination of information integrity related partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; • Provide logistical and other support to information integrity events and activities, including for the UN Working Group on Information Integrity, the Global Network for Information Integrity, and for capacity building and training activities; • Provide general support to the team’s research and assessment of risks to information integrity across online and offline information spaces, including on data collection, analysis and reporting of findings for reports and presentations; • Support activities related to the development and presentation of information integrity products, such as issue briefs, speeches and online content; • Monitor and keep track of team tasks and projects; • Maintain shared electronic files and databases and mailing lists; • Other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills
A minimum of 5 years work experience is required for this position. The following qualifications/skills are also desirable: • Understanding of online information ecosystems • Familiarity with using social media and other digital media platforms • Data organizing, processing, and analysis • Planning and organizing, including for official travel and budget planning • Written communications and presentations • Managing relationships with stakeholders
Languages
English or French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the opening advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable.
