IFC is seeking Associate Investment Officer (AIO) to drive impactful private sector investments. This role focuses on identifying opportunities, structuring innovative solutions, and fostering partnerships in Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Consumer Services (MAS) sectors. The AIO will be based in N'Djamena, Chad and will report to the Country Manager.
Role Responsibilities:
•  Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and government counterparts to identify and develop a robust pipeline of impactful upstream/investment opportunities in MAS sectors.
•  Conduct integrity due diligence, lead the preparation of high-quality investment proposals, including financial models, risk assessments, and project documentation, for presentation to internal committees and external stakeholders.
•  Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) specialists, to ensure compliance with IFC’s performance standards and sustainability goals.
•  Structure and negotiate investment terms, including debt, equity, and blended finance instruments, to ensure commercially viable and sustainable outcomes for IFC and its clients.
•  Design Terms of Reference (TORs) for external specialized consultants, liaise with the finance and procurement teams during the procurement process, and supervise consultants supporting the implementation of projects.
•  Produce regular internal and external reports on the assigned projects and their progress against project milestones and key performance indicators. 
•  Monitor and manage the performance of portfolio investments, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to enhance financial and developmental outcomes.
•  Represent IFC in external forums, conferences, and client meetings, effectively communicating IFC’s value proposition and commitment to sustainable private sector development.
•  Prepare briefings for Country Manager and Division Director, and support with Country Office-related tasks as needed.

Selection Criteria

•  A Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  A minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate or project finance in Africa. Preferred experience across MAS sub-sectors (agribusiness, manufacturing, health, education, hospitality, retail, property), with a proven track record of closing investment transactions.
•  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members across different cultures and backgrounds.
•  High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability, with a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
•  Ability to work flexibly across multiple assignments, manage shifting priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
•  Excellent spoken and written proficiency in both English and French.
