International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a long-term senior consultant to design, implement, monitor and coordinate livestock research for development projects in India.
ILRI works to improve food security and nutrition and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe, and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, ILRI has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org
Scope of Work for the Consultant
- Support to manage existing livestock research for development projects in India.
- Support to secure funding from different national and international donor agencies.
- Support to draft project proposals, reports, papers, training manuals etc.
- Build and maintain strong partnership with donors and partners.
- Provide technical inputs, deliver presentations, and represent ILRI in different forums.
- Organize training and capacity‑building programs.
- Support Country Representative, ILRI-India in his works as per the need.
Consultancy Fee: Competitive monthly fee based on qualification and experience
Post location: ILRI- New Delhi
Duration: Twelve months (with scope for extending further based on performance and availability of funding).
Terms of Appointment: This consultancy is only open to Indian Nationals.
Essential skills and qualifications
The interested candidates should possess:
- PhD in Veterinary/Animal Sciences with 10+ years’ experience, or Master’s with 15+ years.
- Proven track record of drafting high quality research papers, reports, policy briefs, training manuals etc. in English language.
- Demonstrated knowledge and capacity of designing and drafting proposal for funding.
- Demonstrated experience of engaging with senior level officers of donors, governments, non-governmental organizations, research organizations, universities etc.
- Demonstrated capacity of representing organization in various forums and delivering high quality impactful speech/ lecture/ presentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience working in a multi-cultural team environment.
- Ability to do multi-tasking with minimum guidance and support proactively.
- Ability to manage staff, budget etc. couple with ability to organize workshop, seminar and capacity building programme.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as necessary.
