Duties and Responsibilities
The international Trade Centre is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, which provides technical assistance and capacity building to policymakers, the private sector and trade and investment support organizations to help them use trade as an engine for sustainable growth and employment generation. ITC works to support the achievement of the sustainable Development Goals by connecting micro, small and medium enterprises to global value chains. By enabling small business export success in developing countries, ITC helps generate sustainable incomes and livelihoods, especially for women and youth while taking into consideration sustainable elements such as the environment and social responsibility. The Green and Inclusive Value Chains (GIVC) section is responsible for developing and disseminating sector-level expertise for sustainable market-driven solutions in ITC, including the Alliances for Action (A4A) methodology. A4A is a participatory partnership model that engages smallholder farmers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to manage risk and facilitate networks that provide the required technical expertise and capacity building. With A4A, ITC aims at achieving resilience and growth for farmers and MSMEs through more mindful and responsible trade, production and consumption systems and improved opportunities to compete on a global market. This includes building resilience and competitiveness of MSMEs and enabling sustainable market linkages and value addition. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer GIVC, the selected candidate is expected to: 1. Assist with programme coordination tasks, including preparation of agendas, meeting notes, and follow-up actions for internal and external engagements. 2. Contribute to the preparation of strategic and communication materials, including presentations, briefing notes, background documents, and reports related to the green transition. 3. Conduct research and analysis on potential partners and funding opportunities to support resource mobilization efforts, in collaboration with relevant teams such as Cabinet, Donor Relations, and Regional Offices. 4. Liaise with ITC technical and country teams to identify synergies and support coordination in the implementation of programmes and strategic initiatives. 5. Conduct background research on trade-related topics, particularly issues affecting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). 6. Compile data, policy analysis, and evidence to support programme development, strategic planning, and high-level decision-making. 7. Monitor and summarize developments in global trade, development cooperation, and policy discussions relevant to ITC’s mandate.
