JOB TITLE: TikTok Platform Manager

DURATION: 11 months

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

WFP's Social Media team is looking for a platform manager who brings strategic and tactical understanding of vertical video content and emerging social platforms, with expertise in TikTok. The Platform Manager will monitor uprising trends, master platform-native editing and pacing, support building content plans and libraries, and ensure WFP's vertical video strategy is aligned across platforms.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Social Media Manager, the Platform Manager will be responsible for the following key duties:

Platform Management & Vertical Video Strategy

  • Oversee and manage WFP's TikTok account as the primary platform, ensuring consistent, high-quality content that drives follower growth and engagement;
  • Develop and implement vertical video content strategy across TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms;
  • Monitor platform trends, algorithm changes, and new features to identify opportunities for WFP to join meaningful conversations and maximize reach;
  • Adhere to vertical video best practices and provide guidance to regional offices and country offices on platform-specific content creation;
  • Test new platforms and formats, providing recommendations on where WFP should invest resources.

Content Creation & Production

  • Edit and produce vertical video content using trending in-platform editing tools and techniques (TikTok, CapCut, Instagram Reels, etc.);
  • Be one of the faces of WFP on TikTok and other vertical video platforms to highlight key narratives for brand awareness, follower growth, and audience engagement;
  • Work with Content Strategist, Community Manager, and regional offices to create platform-native content that supports overarching COM narratives and goals;
  • Identify and package existing WFP content (field footage, interviews, b-roll) for vertical video formats across platforms;
  • Create paid-first and organic-first vertical video content for priority audiences.

Community Management & Engagement

  • Monitor comments and mentions across TikTok, to build interactions by responding to comments, stitching, duetting, and remixing relevant content;
  • Support the Social Media Community Manager in executing the platform strategy by identifying key brand-building moments to create authentic and positive interaction with followers;
  • Escalate issues, reputational risks, or negative comments to the Social Media Manager and Media Team in a timely manner.

Analytics & Insights

  • Understand platform-specific metrics and provide actionable insights on viral videos, trends, and audience behavior;
  • Conduct regular analytics assessments of vertical video performance across platforms;
  • Provide monthly reporting on platform growth, engagement, and content performance;
  • Identify patterns and best practices that can be applied across WFP's social media channels.

Content Library & Resource Management

  • Build and maintain a vertical video content library and repository of ready-to-use raw clips, templates, and assets;
  • Develop templates and toolkits for regional and country offices to create platform-native vertical video content;
  • Coordinate with country office teams and regional offices to source and curate vertical video content.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

  • Implement and execute WFP's vertical video content strategy;
  • Increase audience growth on TikTok;
  • Build a content library of ready-to-use vertical video assets;
  • Deliver analytics reports on platform performance and audience insights;
  • Provide guidance and training on vertical video content creation.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: University degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience managing social media accounts with focus on vertical video content (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts). Demonstrated portfolio of viral or high-performing vertical video content. Experience with international organizations, NGOs, or humanitarian agencies is desirable.

Knowledge  & skills:

  • In-depth understanding and proficiency of TikTok in-app content creation, as well as supporting apps such as CapCut, Splice, InShot. 
  • Previous video editing experience. 
  • Keen eye for impactful visual assets. 
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills. 
  • Proactive, strategic and able to work independently. 
  • Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme. 

Languages: Excellent command of written and spoken English. Working knowledge of a second UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic) would be an asset.

Working Arrangements: The position is on-site for locally based candidates. Remote work may be considered for candidates not based locally. Please note that no relocation or allowance support is provided.
