Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno, Taraba and Adamawa States, MI is currently active in the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), Protection and FNSL sectors for saving and improving the lives of both the IDP/refugee populations as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, including NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines, and hygiene promotion. The protection activities focus on prevention and response to Gender Based Violence (GBV)  cases.

The Food Nutrition Security and Livelihood interventions mainly focus on micro gardening, pullet rearing for egg production, composting, and Nutrition (food demonstration, referrals of malnutrition cases to nutrition partners, and sensitisation on nutrition). Malteser International applies a participatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach.

For our work in Katsina State, Nigeria, Malteser International is seeking a Finance and Admin Assistant – National Position.

The Finance and Admin Assistant will assist in ensuring the petty Financial Needs of the Katsina Area are met, in close coordination with the Finance Team at the Country Office.

Your responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including vouchers, receipts, and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and process payment vouchers while ensuring compliance with financial policies and donor requirements
  • Support cash and bank transactions, including petty cash management, reconciliations, and cash counts
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and proper filing/archiving of financial documents
  • Provide general administrative support, including correspondence management, filing systems, and office documentation
  • Support procurement and logistics processes, including vendor management, supply tracking, and documentation of goods/services
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and support audit processes while maintaining confidentiality of all financial and administrative information

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 2–3 years relevant experience, preferably in an NGO or development sector
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures
  • Experience in administrative support roles is a major priority
