Overview of position

This position is located in the Field Technology Section (FTS) of UNISFA.
The ICT Security Assistant reports to the Chief Field Technology Section or designated ICT Officer.
The incumbent supports the implementation of information security policies, standards and guidelines issued by the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) and ensures compliance with United Nations                            Secretariat information security frameworks within the mission environment.

Role objectives
Within delegated authority, the ICT Security Assistant will be responsible for the following duties.
Monitors ICT security tools, dashboards, system logs and alerts to detect potential security incidents.
Assists in identifying, documenting and escalating cybersecurity incidents in accordance with established procedures.
Supports incident response coordination and ensures proper tracking and follow-up actions.
Assists in conducting vulnerability scans of mission systems and endpoints and tracks remediation measures.
Monitors compliance with patch management and security baseline standards.
Assists in administering user accounts and access rights in accordance with established policies.
Supports periodic user access reviews and monitoring of privileged accounts.
Maintains ICT security documentation, including risk registers and compliance records.
Contributes to preparation of periodic security reports and dashboards.
Assists during internal and external audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
Supports delivery of ICT security awareness briefings to mission personnel.Performs other related duties as required.
Project reporting

This role will report to the Chief  Field Technology Section or designated ICT Officer.

Knowledge of ICT security principles, practices and standards. Ability to identify security risks and contribute to technical solutions. Demonstrates commitment to organizational security objectives.

Planning & Organizing: Develops clear goals consistent with agreed strategies. Identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required.

Accountability: Takes ownership of responsibilities and ensures compliance with established procedures and standards.

Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.

Client Orientation: Considers user needs while ensuring adherence to ICT security policies.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive responsible experience in ICT support, Network administrator, system administration, and cybersecurity is required.

  • Experience in security monitoring, vulnerability management or incident handling is required.

  • Experience in a UN peacekeeping or field mission environment is desirable.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.

Education & other requirements for this role:

Expert:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent is required. Technical; certification or diploma in information Technology, Computer Science.

Certification in the below fields are required:

  • CompTIA Security+

  • CCNA certification is desirable.

  • CISSP

  • Cisco Certified Specialist Enterprise core

  • Checkpoint firewall Management

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Associate (Optional)
