If the answer is yes, you could be one of our new interns in DRC’s Global Advocacy Unit. 

Who are we? 

DRC’s Global Advocacy Unit (GAU) leads DRC’s efforts to influence humanitarian and development policy relevant to DRC’s work, and provides support to DRC’s Secretary General, Executive Management, and country offices. GAU sits in the Partnerships, Advocacy, Engagement, and Resource Mobilization (PAER) Department at DRC’s HQ in Copenhagen. 

About the internship 

You will join a dynamic team based in Copenhagen and actively collaborate with colleagues across the organization. In this role, you will take on your own set of responsibilities while also contributing to critical support functions. Your internship with the Global Advocacy Unit will focus on the following main areas: 

  • Coordinate and develop new advocacy tools and processes.  

  • Help maintain and further develop internal communication sites and coordinate the uploading of updates to the Global Advocacy Hub. 

  • Research internal and external reports and thematic trends across state and multilateral actors.  

  • Help to organise meetings and appointments as well as produce and distribute minutes of meetings.  

  • Provide inputs and support the development of external products such as meetings and events.  

  • Provide administrative support. 

  • Ad hoc support. 

We offer flexibility in the type of tasks, so you also have the possibility to influence the tasks, subject to what is relevant for your study program. 

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to be flexible, eager to learn, and proactive, with an interest in influencing humanitarian and development policy to support refugees and displaced people. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate level university degree in International Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, International Development, Humanitarian Aid, or other relevant degree. Fluency in written and spoken English is required since you will be working with advocacy both in Denmark and internationally. 

  

All employees and interns in DRC should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the Lead, Collaborating, Striving for Excellence, and Demonstrating Integrity. Desired skills include: 

  • Knowledge of international and humanitarian and development policy, state and multilateral actors, and relevant international frameworks. 

  • Working knowledge of written and spoken Danish. 

  • Layout/editing skills are an advantage. 

People with a migrant or refugee background are highly encouraged to apply. It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university in order to be considered for the internship. 

We offer 

Contract length: 6 months subject to study requirements and further discussion. 

Workplace: DRC Headquarters located Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø 

Start date: 17 August 2026. We can be flexible on the start date. 

Working hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations next to the internship. 

The internship is not paid but we offer: 

  • 2,08 (unpaid) vacation days per month. The days can either be spent as you earn them or be accumulated. 

  • Free lunch in our canteen (subject to our canteen being open). 

  • Free participation in our year-end party. 

 
Please note that if you do not have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa), you will need to apply for it should you be selected for the internship. DRC will support this process, but please note it can take up to three months from initiating the process.
