Position Summary
The Operations Specialist is a member of the Global Programs and Operations (GPO) department and works to develop and implement strategies to address complex operational needs. The GPO Ops team seeks a candidate who can bring an experienced field perspective to our work supporting agency leaders as the organization grows and evolves in the coming years. The role is ideal for an internal candidate who understands the challenges that field teams encounter in executing CI’s mission and wants to build practical solutions to those problems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and implementing a set of global standards for agency-facing guidance from CIKC; develop tools and resources to support stakeholders across CIKC to align their guidance to these standards.
- Lead engagements with operating core staff to diagnose common execution challenges; develop global solutions and/or enable local innovation.
- Develop communication products to support effective implementation of GPO and CIKC priorities in the field; shape the GPO internal communications strategy to be responsive to stakeholder needs across the organization.
- Develop tools and guidance to support an annual planning, budgeting and reporting cycle that enables agency leaders to effectively manage local resources to achieve key objectives.
- Represent GPO in coordination forums with other CIKC stakeholders, adapting GPO and agency priorities into language that will resonate across the organization while ensuring GPO and agencies deliver on the needs of other departments.
- Lead projects related to scaling Child Path, including formal project workstreams, and other special projects assigned by the VP of GPO, which may relate to acting as the business owner for new IT tool development, opening new country offices and filling short-term operational gaps.
Personal Characteristics & Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience with Children International.
- Strong understanding of the operational realities facing agencies, especially in departments directly responsible for executing Child Path (Operations, Programs and/or Connections).
- Strong oral and written English abilities; fluency in Spanish
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Strong analytical skills and clear communication abilities, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent organization, management, and follow-through skills.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to engage with diverse groups; credibility with field colleagues.
