Company Description

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

Job Description

Introduction:

As an electromechanical technician, you will assemble and test cryostats and associated equipment for superconducting accelerator systems (such as magnets and power transfer lines), contributing to their production, installation and maintenance, including hands-on interventions on CERN accelerators, such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Functions:

  • Assemble cryostats and electromechanical equipment for accelerator systems, such as superconducting magnets, related electric transfer lines and feedthroughs for cryogenic applications.
  • Perform interventions in the LHC tunnel for installation, maintenance or dismantling of cryoassemblies, during shutdowns or maintenance periods.
  • Manufacture and modify parts using conventional machining (milling, turning) and forming.
  • Handle logistics of components and stock for assigned assemblies, launching and following up manufacturing requests and purchase orders and performing acceptance tests.
  • Prepare production documentation, in particular quality control documents.
