The offices deliver on the programmatic priorities of each country as agreed in their respective Country Programming Frameworks (CPFs) aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and ensure effective and efficient operations with adequate human and financial resources.

Specifically, FAO Country Offices:
(i) advocate, inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAO’s mandate;
(ii) provide technical assistance and deliver core services;
(iii) assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation;
(iv) Position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation;
(v) ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management.


Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, in close coordination with the Assistant FAO Representative (Admin) and direct supervision of the functional supervisor.


Technical Focus

The Driver is responsible to perform driving services for the staff of the FAO Country Office in Nepal, as well as official visitors. The Driver also provides other pick-up, delivery and messenger services for his clients. The incumbent ensures the safety and comfort of the passengers and longevity of the vehicles assigned and should show a high sense of responsibility and trustworthiness and handle the passengers and clients with utmost courtesy and respect.
Functioning as a Driver for the FAO Country Office, the incumbent will be in regular contact with all staff of the country office, with national and international visitors, with (high ranking) officials from the Government and other (UN) Agencies, with project managers, consultants and other personnel from within and outside the Organization.


Tasks and responsibilities

• Drive the FAO Representative and his/her visitors, country office staff on official trips, as required
• Meet FAO staff and official visitors at the airport; facilitate immigration, customs formalities, hotel check-in and other local formalities.
• Record Log of official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, transportation/vehicle related expenditures, vehicle servicing, repairs, etc.
• Ensure day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle; checks oil, water, battery, tires, etc.;
• Perform minor repairs and timely arrange for any other repairs necessary to keep the vehicle safe and technically sound at all times; maintain the vehicle in clean conditions.
• Report to supervisor if any repair and maintenance is required
• Distribute Mail /pouch to Government offices and collect the mail / pouch from concerned offices;
• Handle local and organizational formalities when involved in any accident; ensure that all organizational and National country rules, regulations and procedures are followed correctly
• Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches and other items from and to the country office; go to airport, government offices, UN agencies, institutions, project sites, etc. to take and deliver items; and keep records as required.
• When needed, assist the country office staff in performing simple clerical duties such as making and answering telephone calls, making photocopies, keeping records, etc.
• Perform any other assigned duties as and when required


CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• At minimum a School Leaving Certificate (SLC) or Secondary Education Examination (SEE) must be completed.
• A minimum three years’ work experience as a driver in recognized and reputed organization with flawless, safe driving record.
• Working knowledge of English and Nepali language must be required
• National of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
