Project background
The Guyana-Norway Partnership is a landmark collaboration that supports Guyana’s efforts to reduce deforestation and promote sustainable, low-carbon development through payments for forest climate services. Since its inception in 2009, Guyana and Norway signed an MOU to cooperate in the fight against climate change through forest conservation. The partnership has contributed significantly to improved forest governance, REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) mechanism implementation, institutional strengthening, and community development.
GGGI was engaged by the Kingdom of Norway to provide management support to the GRIF project, including providing management support to the GRIF Secretariat (OUTCOME 1) and developing knowledge products (OUTCOME 3). This entails developing and disseminating various communication products that strategically capture, document, and showcase the historic partnership, highlighting the successes, best practices, opportunities, and lessons learned. A key product to be developed is a video documentary with an estimated duration of 40 minutes, along with a series of short project-specific videos (duration of approximately 2-3 minutes each).
The GGGI Guyana Office is seeking a consultant to capture content and produce insightful, engaging videos and a documentary to raise awareness in relation to the partnership’s achievements under the Guyana-Norway Partnership. The consultant will work remotely but will be expected to visit several project implementation sites across Guyana. The consultant will be responsible for the submission of several deliverables, which are detailed in this ToR.
Objectives of the assignment
The objective of this assignment is to produce:
1) One (1) high-quality, engaging edited documentary video (40 minutes) including the conceptualization and development of story lines.
a) Compiling audiovisual materials, including recorded interviews with beneficiaries in the different project locations.
b) Supporting b-roll footage, including but not limited to community scenes, people, project outcomes such as infrastructure, buildings.
c) Development of storyboard including proposed interviews, locations where filming will be done in accordance with mapping of project locations, interview schedule, shot list.
2) Fifteen (15) GRIF-funded project-specific edited videos (2-3 minutes long) for each project that:
a) Compiling audiovisual materials, including recorded interviews with beneficiaries in the different project locations.
b) Supporting b-roll footage, including but not limited to communities’ scenes, people, project outcomes such as infrastructure, buildings.
c) Development of storyboard including proposed interviews, locations where filming will be done in accordance with mapping of project locations, interview schedule, shot list.

Provide visual documentation of field interventions and landscapes.
Key considerations
The consultant will be guided by GGGI’s Guyana GRIF Project Manager, with support from the Communication Associate, throughout the development and production of the documentary.
He/she shall be responsible for the delivery of specific activities crucial to the project, achieving quality and transparency of information on GRIF activities, results, and experiences of the individual GRIF projects.
To develop one compelling, high-quality video documentary and 15 short videos that capture the origin, implementation, impact, and future relevance of the Guyana-Norway Partnership and GRIF-funded projects.
Deliverables and Payment Schedule
This is a deliverable-based consultancy that will span eight and a half (8.5) months, with actual billable days capped at 179. Materials and all content used are subject to review and approval by all project partners and the GRIF secretariat and are aligned with the donor's brand guidelines under the project.

Note: Workplan is to be included as part of the application submission and is subject to modification if needed when the consultancy starts. Workplan to include production phase, Timeline, Team and Roles, Resources and Equipment needed. Risks and Mitigation. The Consultant shall identify and map all proposed filming locations across the project area and submit a detailed location plan, including geographic references and site descriptions, for review and approval before commencement of filming.
Photographs with individuals must be accompanied by a signed consent form/release.
Payments shall be made upon submission and formal approval of deliverables.

Qualifications and Skills
- A Master’s Degree in one of the following (or a related field): public communication and other relevant fields., or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Professional training and/or experience in: Video production or cinematography, editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, et al.), audio production and sound design, drone operation (videos are expected to include aerial footage therefore the consultant should have the necessary insurance as well as permits, pursuant to national Civil Aviation Regulations).
General Professional Experience

Minimum 5-8 years of working experience in the area of Documentary Filmmaking, Media and Communications, Communication for Development.

Proven experience in developing, directing, and producing documentary videos (short or feature-length).

Demonstrated ability to deliver concept-to-screen projects (scriptwriting, filming, editing, publishing).
Other Professional Experience can be an asset

Proven experience in documentary filmmaking and visual storytelling (experience in producing development-focused documentaries would be an asset).

Strong portfolio of past work related to environmental, climate, or development issues.

Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews and field shoots in remote areas.

Excellent video editing and production skills.

Familiarity with the development or climate change sector is an asset.

Strong understanding of ethical standards in audiovisual documentation.

Familiarity with REDD+, Indigenous engagement, or environmental projects.
Reporting and Supervision
The consultant will report to the GGGI’s Guyana GRIF Project Manager and liaise with the Communications Associate. All deliverables must receive final approval by GGGI in consultation with the GRIF Secretariat (GoG and NORAD).
Duration and Location
The assignment will span an eight and a half (8.5) month period with actual billable days capped at a maximum of 179 days, with activities conducted in Georgetown and selected field sites in Guyana (see attached). The consultant must be available for in-person filming and interviews.
