Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Regional Media and Communications Officer and the direct supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the incumbent will support the implementation of media and communications activities across the mission.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of media, digital, and communication activities across the mission, in line with established plans and priorities.
- Provide support to projects within the mission in implementing communication activities for counterparts, as required.
- Draft, edit, review, and support the production and dissemination of communication materials, including press releases, stories, newsletters, social media content, factsheets, infographics, and multimedia tools in English and Arabic, in coordination with the HoO, as required, relevant Project Managers.
- Assist in managing the mission’s digital platforms, including social media channels and website, supporting timely and consistent content updates.
- Support coordination with internal units, government counterparts, and headquarters to collect and organize content for campaigns and visibility initiatives.
- Monitor media and social media coverage and assist in preparing media summaries and reports.
- Maintain and organize communication files and assets, including media contact lists, visibility materials, photographs, and audiovisual content.
- Assist in organizing and delivering communications-related training and awareness activities and support the promotion of culturally appropriate and gender-sensitive messaging.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Information, Journalism or related field from an accredited academic institution and at least three years of relevant professional experience, or;
- High school diploma with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Experience in a public information role at a UN or similar agency and/or experience in working for a news media organization.
Skills
Good knowledge of information and communication tools such as email automation software (Mailchimp), Canva, Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro);
Excellent writing and drafting skills;
Strong organizational skills;
Computer literacy;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Competency as a writer and editor in English;
Knowledge of graphic design, web, social media and video production;
Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision
Attention to detail and ability to organize
Self-motivated and objective driven
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
