ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Responsibilities
Support the development, adaptation, and organization of information, education and communication (IEC) materials related to safe migration, and the prevention of smuggling of migrants and trafficking in persons.
Assist in the organization and logistical preparation of community outreach, awareness‑raising, and public communications activities in Bangkok and selected provinces.
Assist the project team with information management and storytelling of the project, including maintaining attendance lists, photo documentation, and activity records.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
TRAINING COMPONENTS AND LEARNING ELEMENTS
The Intern will:
Gain experience in working in an international multicultural environment within the United Nations system.
Gain hands‑on experience in communications and outreach activities within a UN migration and protection programme.
Gain experience in organization, management, and international cooperation activities.
Develop practical skills in drafting IEC materials and documenting project activities.
Develop a better understanding of IOM’s work, as an inter-governmental organization in the field of Migration, and work on formulating and editing institutional strategies, priorities and workplans.
Receive access to online training courses at the disposal of all IOM staff.
Have the possibility to interact with IOM staff within Headquarters and IOM Missions.
Qualifications
Education
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in communications, social sciences, international relations, law, development studies, migration studies, or a related field.
Experience
- Working for non-governmental organizations, international governmental organizations or government institutions;
- Working on the protection and assistance of vulnerable migrant populations;
- Counter-trafficking interventions will be considered an asset;
- Working in a multi-cultural environment and demonstrated capacity to respect diversity.
Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to organize information clearly and accurately;
Sensitivity to cultural diversity and protection considerations;
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality;
Proven understanding of migration dynamics in Thailand and of vulnerabilities experienced by migrant populations;
Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.
Languages
For this internship, are required to be proficient in English and Thai.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes
Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, security clearances.
