Org. Setting and Reporting
The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It is composed of 15 judges, elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council. The Court has a twofold role: first, to settle, in accordance with international law, through judgments which have binding force and are without appeal for the parties concerned, legal disputes submitted to it by States; and, second, to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by duly authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies. The Court is the only principal organ of the United Nations not serviced by the Secretariat and has its own Registry, which provides judicial support to the Court and acts as a permanent administrative organ. The Registry is headed by a Registrar, elected by the Court. The incumbent is appointed by the Court upon the recommendation of the Registrar (Rules of Court, Art. 25). The position is located in the Registry's Information Department. The incumbent reports directly to the Head of the Department.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Department, the incumbent is responsible for the Court's digital presence, in particular the website and social media channels, and will perform the following duties: 1. Web management: (a) Guides the ICJ's digital web strategy to increase the Court's digital footprint and online presence with target audiences and key stakeholders, in line with organizational needs, the Court's communications strategy and branding guidelines; (b) Coordinates the ongoing development and maintenance of the Court's website, ensuring content is up-to-date and the site structure is well functioning; (c) In cooperation with Registry departments and divisions, drafts, proofreads and uploads web content; (d) Oversees the creation of new pages and sections on the website, as well as the development of other digital platforms; (e) Monitors, analyses and evaluates site usage statistics for reporting purposes, and keeps abreast of emerging trends to make recommendations and to actively implement improvements; (f) Develops partner relationships to ensure optimal ways for the ICJ to communicate and engage digitally and maximize visibility and traffic to ICJ platforms; (g) Acts as the focal point on information, communication and technology issues related to the website and provides specialised advice and training to team members, where needed. 2. Social media (a) Guides the development and implementation of a social media strategy; (b) Oversees the daily management of the Court's social media channels; creates and oversees the production and publishing of engaging and brand-consistent content across all channels and designs social media campaigns for specific projects, ensuring consistent messaging and quality control; (c) Collaborates with Registry departments and divisions to identify priority topics, events, developments and opportunities that require social media coverage; (d) Maintains the Court's editorial calendar; (e) Elaborates and updates social media policies and guidelines; (f) Provides regular social media analysis and reports, including related to reputational risk, and recommends follow up actions. 3. Content management coordination and branding (a) Manages relationships with external vendors, establishes priorities, monitors progress and supervises the production schedules and work of designers and developers in the development and production of interactive, visual communications and digital products, and ensures that all products are consistent with the ICJ's visual identity and branding guidelines; (b) Serves as the primary focal point for branding guidelines for internal and external stakeholders. 4. Supports the design and production of other public information products and tools, and the organization of sittings, events and outreach activities, as and when necessary, and performs other duties as required.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising, graphic design, web development, computer science, information technology or a related field is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years (7 years in case of a first level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, marketing, graphic design or a related area is required. A minimum of 2 years of dedicated experience managing digital channels (website and/or social media) in a professional context is required. Experience monitoring and evaluating the impact of web and social media content/data analytics is required. Experience delivering digital campaigns, including advocacy and engagement is desirable. Experience managing multilingual content is desirable. Experience in an international environment is desirable. Experience working with hosting platforms, enterprise technologies, web applications and search engine optimization is required. Experience working on Customer Experience (CX), User Experience (UX) and Customer Journey Maps is desirable. Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite products or similar is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the official languages of the Court. UN Level III (Advanced) in both of these languages is required. Knowledge of other official languages of the United Nations or Dutch would be an asset. Assessment

The position to be filled is an established temporary post, which will be funded until December 2027. The successful candidate will be offered a fixed-term appointment until 31 December 2027. They consist of a basic salary and a post adjustment which reflects the cost of living in the Netherlands and the euro/dollar exchange rate. In addition, the Court offers an attractive benefits package including 30 days of annual leave, home travel every two years, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan and subsidized medical insurance. If the selected candidate is a staff member from an organization applying the United Nations Common System of Salaries and Allowances, the provisions of the Inter-Organization Agreement concerning Transfer, Secondment or Loan shall apply.
