The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has some 18,000 staff worldwide. In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence in Ukraine. Currently, we have over 900 team members working across the county in various professional fields.
ABOUT THE JOB
The ICRC Odesa Sub-Delegation is seeking a highly capable Protection/ Safe Cross-Border Passage Program (SCBP) Field Officer to join our team in Odesa. This role supports the efficient implementation of the ICRC’s anchoring, contextual understanding, and operational response in his/her assigned Area of Responsibility (AoR). He/she contributes to the implementation and monitoring of ICRC protection activities, in particular in relation to the safe cross-border passage program.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the day-to-day implementation and development of the SCBP program as his/her main responsibility in close coordination with the KYI SCBP team;
- Supports the assessment and processing of potential cases as per established criteria;
- Efficiently fulfils all required administrative processes and follow-up activities for the beneficiaries;
- Ensures agreed information and workflows as well as applicable reporting guidelines and data entry procedures pertaining to the SCBP file are adhered to, with timely Prot6 updates of all cases;
- Collects, compiles and shares protection-related information, and prepares written reports, as relevant;
- Contributes to identification of relevant stakeholders and develops and maintains contact with municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, local/international NGOs, service providers, etc., as appropriate and in coordination/consultation with line manager;
- Supports the planning, organization, and reporting in relation to internal and external meetings. Interprets as needed;
- Contributes to disseminations vis-à-vis relevant stakeholders, jointly with colleagues from relevant departments, as required;
- Engages directly with persons affected by the conflict to better understand their circumstances, in line with ICRC’s humanitarian principles;
- Contributes to analyses of the security, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC, shares relevant information with team members, and reports any change in the situation.

ABOUT YOU
To be successful as Protection/ Safe Cross-Border Passage Program Field Officer in the Odesa Sub-Delegation, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- University degree or relevant professional experience
- Excellent command of English, Ukrainian and Russian
- 3-5 years’ previous professional experiences, for instance in the field of social/political/economic science or similar
- Computer literacy
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
