1. Organizational Context
a. Organizational Setting
The post is located under the Department for Development Cooperation, Regional and National Development Sector. The Department, through the Regional Divisions, RNDS Projects Team and the Copyright Development Senior Coordinator, serves as the gateway for Member States, facilitating two-way communication and cooperation across WIPO and supporting them in the development and implementation of policy in the context of effective intellectual property (IP) ecosystems. The Department works with Member States and stakeholders to strengthen capacity and to use IP as a tool for growth and development in an impactful manner.
b. Purpose Statement
The incumbent supports the Copyright Development Senior Coordinator in proposing strategic guidelines of the technical assistance and capacity building programs and projects under the Organization’s development cooperation mandate. The role contributes to the design, implementation and monitoring of sustainable programs and activities that promote the use of copyright and intellectual property for economic, social and cultural development in the countries. As required, the incumbent may also support the implementation of some activities in various regions in coordination with the regional divisions.
c. Reporting Lines
The incumbent works under the supervision of the Copyright Development Senior Coordinator, Department for Development Cooperation, Regional and National Development Sector.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will perform the following principal duties\:
a. Support the coordination and implementation of activities related to copyright and creative industries development, ensuring alignment with the approved Program and Budget, including the organization of capacity-building activities, expert meetings, projects, and international conferences.
b. Assist in monitoring and analyzing global and regional developments in copyright, creative industries, and creative economy policies, preparing analytical briefs, background notes, talking points, and research outputs as required.
c. Contribute to the assessment of Member States’ needs and priorities for development activities, programs, and projects aimed at establishing or modernizing effective and efficient copyright systems.
d. Support coordination and information-sharing with Regional Divisions, External Offices, and relevant stakeholders, including Member States, intergovernmental organizations, industry representatives, and creators, to facilitate technical exchanges and collaboration.
e. Contribute to the design and implementation of capacity-building initiatives and projects, including the development of training tools, presentations, and materials for Regional Bureaus and sectoral training activities.
f. Draft and review speeches, statements, documentation, and reports, including contributions to Assemblies, Standing Committees, program and performance reports, project documents, budgets, and departmental work plans.
g. Conduct research, surveys, and data analysis related to copyright and creative industries, including the collection, interpretation, and presentation of relevant information.
h. Maintain and enhance internal knowledge resources, monitoring tools, and reporting systems, ensuring accurate tracking of policy developments, program implementation, resource utilization, and results.
i. Prepare and process official correspondence and documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards, including materials for online publication.
j. Perform other related duties as required.
3. Requirements
Education (Essential)
First-level university degree in law, economics, international relations, development studies or a related discipline.
Education (Desirable)
Project management certification and/or IP studies.
Experience (Essential)
At least three years’ relevant professional experience in Intellectual Property at the national or international level, including in the field of copyright and creative industries.
Experience with the social, economic, and/or legal systems of developing or least-developed countries.
Experience (Desirable)
Project management experience.
Language (Essential)
Excellent written and spoken proficiency in either English or French, and good proficiency in the other.
Language (Desirable)
Good knowledge of written and spoken Portuguese or Arabic.

Annual salary\:
Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the April 2026 rate of 89.4%.

Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
