ELIXIR is offering a summer student placement to support improvements to the ELIXIR website and related digital services. The student will work with the Website, Communications and Technical teams to improve the accuracy, consistency and visibility of information.
This placement will provide hands-on experience working on a website and supporting digital infrastructure used by a European life science research community.
What you will do
During the placement you will support several focused website improvement tasks, including:
Auditing and improving People profile data across the ELIXIR website to identify duplicates or inconsistencies
Supporting improvements to the ELIXIR Service Portfolio pages to improve clarity, accessibility and consistency
Assisting with website content updates and digital communications tasks
Helping review ELIXIR Node websites to identify examples of good practice and opportunities for improvement
Documenting the work carried out, producing a short summary of findings and recommendations at the end of the placement
What we are looking for
We are looking for a student who:
Has strong attention to detail and enjoys systematic work
Is interested in digital infrastructure, web content or data quality
Is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
Has good written communication and organisational skills
Has previous experience with website content management systems is helpful but not required.
The placement may be particularly suitable for students studying data science, digital humanities, science communication, information management, digital media or a related field.

The student will work primarily with the ELIXIR Website team, with input from the Communications and Technical teams. The placement will be hybrid, with at least one day per week in the office at EMBL-EBI in Hinxton.
Contract length: Approximately 8 weeks over the 2026 summer
Salary: £1,840 per month.
