Context
UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This assignment supports the UNFPA Pacific Sub-Regional Office (PSRO) in delivering the Country Program Document interventions and the Transformative Agenda (2023-2027). The role focuses on four transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, ending gender-based violence and adapting to demographic changes through evidence and rights-based policies.
Task description
Programme Development and Implementation
Assist in the development and implementation of the programme in close partnership with Government and civil society partners in the duty station and provide in-country support in its operational activities.
Contribute to continuous monitoring and follow-up of all activities within the area of geographical/thematic responsibility, finalizing queries, questionnaires and summarizing reports.
Support coordination of interventions assigned to the country office including Family Life Education for both in and out of school and sexual reproductive health in FSM and provide overall support to the office, participate in in-house reviews and meetings and contribute to the preparation of inputs to periodic and annual reports.
Support provision of quality inputs to quarterly and annual reporting under designated areas, support implementing partners to develop quality workplan progress reports, contribute quality inputs to other UNFPA and donor reporting
Support the monitoring of project expenditures and disbursements to ensure delivery is in line with approved budgets, targeted delivery levels are realized, assist with the identification of operational and financial problems, and develop solutions.
Assist with coordination of quarterly meetings with implementing partners to support and closely monitor implementation and carry out monitoring missions to ensure programme quality
Support training needs of counterparts by establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, consultants, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies aimed at improving their capacity to plan, deliver and evaluate programmes in the area of UNFPA’s mandate.
Assist in the preparation of national and regional events within the area of geographical and thematic responsibility.
Support drafting background project papers/briefing documents, proposals, statements, talking points and reports on the programme and operational issues related to the operations of the geographical desk; contribute to their review, collate and provide feedback in close consultation with Pacific Sub Region Office (PSRO).
Analyze, appraise and review incoming documents, correspondence to ensure quality and relevance of subject and themes.
Liaise between the country’s presence office and other offices of UNFPA and UN sister agencies to obtain relevant information, feedback and advice to be directed to the PSRO Director, Deputy Director.
Contribute to technical & program management support for the quality development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of both in and out of school FLE.
