Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the OGCCR Project Coordinator, and under the overall guidance of the Representative for the GCC Region. He/she will also work in close coordination with relevant colleagues in the OGCCR and other experts engaged in delivering technical support to the HRC and the NCCHT in Saudi Arabia. The consultant will be expected to perform the following tasks: 1. Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Combating Trafficking in Persons for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation 2. Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Identification, protection, assistance and referral procedures for victims of trafficking in persons. 3. Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Dealing with Vulnerable Groups in Cross-Border Contexts 4. Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Combating Exploitative Begging 5. Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on The Role of the Media in Addressing Cases of Trafficking in Persons. 6. Qualifications/special skills
• An Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the fields of law, criminology or other related social sciences is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields, in combination with additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. • At least ten (10) years of professional experience in crime prevention, law enforcement, prosecution, criminal justice, international relations, international criminal law and/or related areas, is required. • Practical experience in conducting legal assessments and research in the area of trafficking in person and in the delivery of relevant training is required. • Knowledge of the legal framework concerning TiP, particularly the UNTOC and UN TiP Protocol, Islamic law, in addition to familiarity with the Arab regional anti-human trafficking instrument, is desirable. • Working experience in the GCC and/or MENA regions is desirable. • Previous work experience with the United Nations is desirable.
Languages
• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
