The Private Equity Funds team is part of the Equity, Funds and Venture Capital Department at IFC. IFC is the largest investor in emerging market private equity funds in the world. IFC’s private equity funds strategy focuses on supporting: (i) growth equity funds; (ii) venture capital funds; (iii) small business funds in frontier regions; and (iv) selectively sector funds.
IFC is seeking a Private Equity Funds (Associate) Investment Officer to be based at IFC’s Istanbul office. In this role, the primary responsibility of the (Associate) Investment Officer will be to assess fund managers in the Middle East & Central Asia and Europe regions to determine if they meet IFC’s investment criteria for financial returns, development impact, and environmental and social responsibility, and to conduct portfolio supervision. 
Role Responsibilities:
•  Conduct detailed financial, operational, and market analyses to evaluate investment opportunities in alignment with IFC’s strategic priorities and CPVPE’s objectives.
•  Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of private equity fund investment transactions, ensuring compliance with IFC policies and industry best practices.
•  Prepare high-quality investment proposals and presentations for internal committees, ensuring clarity, rigor, and alignment with IFC’s investment standards.
•  Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, environmental, and social specialists, to ensure comprehensive due diligence and adherence to IFC’s sustainability principles.
•  Monitor portfolio funds and performance, including conducting regular reviews and valuations, identifying and resolving issues, and coordinating internally on portfolio decisions.
•  Take limited partner advisory committee positions in portfolio funds as an IFC representative.
•  Develop and maintain strong relationships with fund managers, portfolio companies, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and identify new investment opportunities.
•  Represent IFC and CPVPE at industry events, conferences, and meetings to enhance visibility, build networks, and promote IFC’s mission and values.
•  Drive measurable development impact by ensuring investments align with IFC’s goals of promoting sustainable economic growth and reducing poverty in emerging markets.
•  Work on departmental assignments relating to areas such as global portfolio and corporate strategy as needed.

Selection Criteria

•  Advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a reputable institution.
•  At least six years of professional experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, or management consulting, with a demonstrated track record of executing complex financial transactions.
•  Proven experience in structuring and negotiating investment transactions.
•  Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills, with the ability to assess investment opportunities and risks effectively.
•  Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
•  Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
•  Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
•  Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•  Commitment to IFC’s mission of promoting sustainable private sector development, with a demonstrated understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
•  Ability and willingness to travel.
