Organizational Context and Scope

Working under the overall supervision of the Head of Office in Pembaand the direct supervision of the Shelter Cluster Coordinator in Pemba, the successful candidate will be entrusted with the following duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in developing of simple, user-friendly Shelter and Non-Food I tems assistance reporting formats in consultation with the cluster coordinator and other key stakeholders. These reporting formats should include provision for gender desegregation of data and report on more vulnerable groups; they should also be complementary to other sector working groups' information collection and reporting systems. 

  2. Assist in the promotion of and training on the use of these reporting tools among cluster partners and other stakeholders. 

  3. Assist in gathering,collating and analysing data on Shelter and NFI needs and response and ensure findings are timely communicated to stakeholders including any feedback and/or issues raised by the affected population and partners.

  4. Update OCHA platforms and global Shelter cluster platforms as needed.

  5. Actively, maintaining the contact database of both the Shelter clusters. Provide regular updates, summaries, mapping, and analysis of the assessed needs and responses for Shelter Cluster partners.

  6. Assist in generating monthly Dashboards for Shelter Cluster Partners and Pipeline to inform donors, partners, and other stockholders. 

  7. Assist the Shelter Cluster Coordinator in monitoring and offering technical support to enhance the Emergency Shelter and NFI Common Pipeline System.

  8. Participate in the Inter-Cluster, information Management Working Group and coordinate with OCHA and other clusters' IMOs to support complementarity and cross-sectoral analysis of information. 

  9. Assist the Shelter Cluster Coordinator in collecting monthly data from partners including but not limited 5W and stock information.

  10. Assist the Shelter Cluster Coordinator to submit Monthly submission of Response Planning and Monitoring reports to OCHA

  11. Any other tasks that maybe required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Environmental Sciences, Geographical information System, Statistics, Social Sciences (Geography), Statistics or any other related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of professional experience; or

  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Minimum Three Years in related field, preferably within the International Humanitarian Field; Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory;

  • Experience and knowledge of data visualization tools like PowerBI/Tableau/Google Data Studio.

  • Experience in developing KOBO/ ODK tools.

  • Experience with mapping software like ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS

  • Experience in the development and implementation of population database systems (such as registrations, census or surveys).

  • Experience in database development and maintenance.

Skills

  • Able to develop KOBO/ ODK tools.
  • Data Cleaning and Integration

  • Data Visualization (Tableau, Power BI, D3.js)

  • Database Management Systems (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, SQLite)

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, Fluency in English & Portuguese is required (oral and written).

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
