ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. WFP Ethiopia, one of the largest and complex operations for WFP globally, is currently rolling out its five-year Country Strategic Plan (2026-2030). The multi-sectoral initiatives in this plan will seek to meet urgent needs by increasing access to and the availability of food while building self-reliance and tackling the root causes of vulnerability, including through support for resilient food systems. By identifying synergies among actors and across locations, sectors and systems, WFP will complement the Government’s strategies and partners’ efforts to deliver innovative, risk-informed programming that saves and changes lives.
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Head of TEC, the incumbent will serve in a dual capacity: offering administrative assistance and actively participating in the development of digital solutions. From an administrative perspective, the staff member will provide ongoing support, oversee TEC procurement activities, and act as the primary contact for staff management matters. Additionally, the staff member will support automation and digitalization initiatives aimed at improving workplace management and will be involved in organizing training sessions and capacity building to enhance staff productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
1. Gather information to support drafting documents and reports.
2. Respond to client queries and escalate as needed.
3. Manage routine administrative and financial tasks.
4. Manage TEC Procurement activities
5. Maintain standard systems and files for accurate information.
6. Report discrepancies in data and support data integrity.
7. Guide junior colleagues on routine business support.
8. Collaborate with staff and build efficient process solutions.
9. Maintain IT systems documentation and perform testing.
10. Assist with IT installation, configuration, and support.
11. Undertake other tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
Education: Completion of secondary school education or University degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or other relevant fields.
Experience: At least Four (4) years of work experience in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work and IT solutions development.
Language: Fluency (level C) in English.
