The Global Voluntary Carbon Market (GVCM) Unit supports the development and operationalisation of a Paris-aligned voluntary carbon market framework that enhances environmental integrity, transparency, and country-driven cooperation. The Unit works closely with national governments, international organizations, and key stakeholders to strengthen alignment between voluntary carbon markets and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, while supporting institutional design, capacity building, and international engagement.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Officer will support the Global Voluntary Carbon Market Unit in the coordination of partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and the planning and delivery of events and related outreach activities. The role is designed as an X8 national position focused on applying established processes and sound professional judgment to support effective engagement with partners and smooth execution of meetings, workshops, dialogues, and other convening activities. The position holder will compile and organize information, coordinate across internal teams and external stakeholders, and ensure timely follow-up on partnership and event-related deliverables.

PURPOSE

Support the design and implementation of partnership and stakeholder engagement activities for the Global Voluntary Carbon Market Unit, with particular focus on relationship management and event coordination.

Apply established organizational processes and basic subject knowledge to organize meetings, workshops, dialogues, and external events that advance the Unit's objectives and visibility.

Compile, research, and synthesize background information on partners, market initiatives, and event topics to support high-quality engagement, briefing materials, and follow-up actions.

Contribute to the preparation of concept notes, agendas, participant lists, presentations, talking points, correspondence, and other materials required for partnership and outreach activities.

Track partnership and event-related actions, timelines, and deliverables so that engagement activities are aligned with work plans, internal coordination requirements, and GGGI standards.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external counterparts, including government representatives, donors, private sector actors, standards bodies, service providers, and other ecosystem partners relevant to voluntary carbon markets.
  • Coordinate communications with partners and participants to support invitations, confirmations, briefing processes, logistical arrangements, and post-event follow-up.
  • Acquire and organize information from internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making, consistent messaging, and quality event preparation.
  • Work closely with colleagues across programme, communications, operations, and management functions to ensure engagement activities are well coordinated and responsive to stakeholder needs.

DELIVERY

  • Organize and deliver assigned tasks in a timely manner, ensuring event and partnership activities are implemented in line with approved work plans, budgets, and administrative procedures.
  • Support end-to-end event organization processes, including scheduling, venue and vendor coordination, participant management, travel-related arrangements, documentation, and on-site delivery support as required.
  • Monitor progress of engagement activities and maintain clear records of partner interactions, action points, event outputs, and follow-up commitments.
  • Identify operational issues or risks affecting smooth delivery of events and stakeholder activities, and escalate them appropriately while proposing practical solutions.
  • Contribute to post-event reporting, lessons learned, and continuous improvement of partnership and convening processes within the Unit.

REQUIREMENTS 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in international relations, business administration, communications, public policy, environmental policy, sustainable development, or another relevant discipline is required. A PhD is an advantage.
  • Minimum , 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in partnership coordination, stakeholder engagement, event management, programme support, or related functions.
  • Experience in a national role supporting government, donor, private sector, or multi-stakeholder engagement processes is highly desirable. Experience in an international organization, development cooperation setting, or climate/sustainability-related field is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting workshops, conferences, roundtables, or high-level meetings involving external stakeholders and service providers.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is required. Korean is highly desirable for a national position. Knowledge of another relevant language is an asset.

  • Good organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple parallel tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Ability to research, compile, and summarize information clearly for briefing and engagement purposes.
  • Strong stakeholder-facing communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse internal and external counterparts.
  • Working knowledge of partnership development, outreach, and event management processes; familiarity with carbon markets, climate finance, or sustainability-related topics is an advantage.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, follow established procedures, and contribute to practical solutions in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Proficiency in standard office productivity tools and confidence in preparing presentations, trackers, correspondence, and event documentation.
