Overview of position

Under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Project Coordinator & direct supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Operations Assistant (Housekeeping), the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of housekeeping services for Red Roof in all areas assigned to the individual in accordance to the performance & quality level standards set by the humanitarian hubs management.

Role objectives
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness & upkeep of the assigned office, accommodation premises & common areas in the compound in accordance to the housekeeping service quality requirements of the humanitarian hubs. Cleaning tasks include but not limited to mopping of floors, dusting, polishing of floors, window washing, vacuuming & garbage.

  • Make up the beds in assigned rooms & replace towels according to the housekeeping standards of the humanitarian hubs.

  • Maintain adequate stocks of cleaning materials, toiletries & other consumables as required.

  • Check stock levels of consumables & restock the toiletries & cleaning supplies as required. 

  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the surrounding garden area, including landscaping, watering, fertilizing & maintenance of shrubs & trees as & when required.

  • Inspect status / conditions of plumbing & electrical installations & furniture pieces in the assigned rooms or common areas & report any observed concerns or damages to the Housekeeping Team Leader.

  • Observe precautions required to protect hotel & guest property & report damage, theft & found articles to supervisors.

  • Promptly report to the Housekeeping Team Leader any concerns / requests from guests & immediately act on them according to the instructions of the Housekeeping Team Leader.

  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health & safety & observe the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) of the humanitarian hubs in addressing them.

  • Perform any other duties as required by supervisors.

Project reporting

This role works under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Project Coordinator & direct supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Operations Assistant (Housekeeping).

Key competencies
  • Certificate in secondary schooling with relevant working experience in maintaining a clean & sanitary environment.

  • Experience in the usage of variety of cleaning products & tools.

  • Experience in health & safety regulations.

  • In depth knowledge of hygiene.

  • Knowledge of stock inventory.

  • Knowledge of customer service.

  • Fluency in English, Hausa & Kanuri.

  • Respects & promotes individual & cultural differences, encourages diversity & inclusion wherever possible.

  • Maintain high ethical standards & acts in a manner consistent with organizational principles / rules & standards of conduct.
