PRESENTATION
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an Italian NGO established in 1991. It started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, in the aftermath of the first Gulf war, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in support of the Iraqi civilian population. UPP missions expanded to include other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. UPP aims at preventing armed conflicts, protecting human rights and supporting local civil society, especially in the Middle East, by promoting the nexus between its humanitarian, peacebuilding and development programs. UPP in Lebanon seeks to promote the principles of peace, human rights and solidarity among people and communities.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Admin and Finance Assistant will provide essential support to the finance function of UPP Lebanon. Based in Beirut, the position plays a key role in ensuring accurate accounting, proper financial documentation, and compliance with internal financial procedures as well as donor and local regulatory requirements. The role supports day-to-day financial operations, record-keeping, and reporting, contributing to the effective and transparent management of UPP Lebanon’s projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accounting and Bookkeeping
· Record financial transactions in the accounting system in accordance with internal procedures and applicable accounting standards.
· Maintain orderly, accurate, and up-to-date accounting records and supporting documentation.
· Ensure proper filing and archiving of financial documents in line with internal requirements.
2. Payments and Reconciliations
· Prepare payment documentation in line with internal authorization and approval procedures.
· Support cash and bank management, including regular cash counts and bank reconciliations.
· Track advances and ensure their timely settlement in accordance with internal policies.
3. Payroll Support
· Support payroll processing by preparing calculations and documentation related to salaries, taxes, social security contributions, and deductions.
· Maintain payroll-related records, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
4. Financial Controls and Compliance
· Apply internal financial procedures and controls consistently.
· Ensure all transactions are properly documented and compliant with applicable regulations and internal policies.
5. Operational Support
· Provide accounting and financial support to programme and operations teams on routine financial matters.
· Support audit preparation by organizing and making available accounting documentation as required.
· Carry out other accounting-related tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
· Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
· Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
· Fluency in Arabic and good command of English (written and spoken).
UPP requires criminal background check certificate (released max 3 months before the date of job offer) to confirm a job offer. We are aware that in some countries the release of criminal background certificate by the competent authorities might require several weeks. However, UPP runs selections to deploy staff in emergency programs and time-lapse between job offer and field deployment is often very short. Thus, we kindly ask all candidates to get prepared on time and be able to submit their certificate promptly in case of success in the selection.
Desirable
· Previous experience with NGOs or international organizations.
· Familiarity with donor regulations (AICS, EU, UN, etc.).
· Experience with financial documentation for audits.
