We are seeking a highly motivated professional as Senior Technician (NDI) to join our Logistics Wing team. Working at the NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen—home to AWACS aircraft—isn’t just a typical job. You will serve as part of a multinational team while assuming responsibility for scheduled and unscheduled Non Destructive Inspections (NDI) on aircraft (a/c) structures, systems and their components, Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE) and Spectrometric Oil Analysis. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that aircraft maintenance complies with all airworthiness requirements. You will play a key role in delivering consistent, high-quality Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) services, which support the effectiveness of maintenance personnel and overall aircraft maintenance operations, while contributing to both ground and flight safety for the E-3A Component.

YOUR ROLE

  • Setting up and standardizing NDI testing equipment, conducts tests, interpret and evaluate tests results for acceptance or rejection, and document accordingly;

  • Determining the scope and limitations of the NDI techniques/methods in which the incumbent is certified;

  • Performing NDI of a/c structures, systems, components and related support equipment, upon level of certification held, on the five standard; methods: Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Radiographic Testing (RT)

  • Inspecting on- and off-equipment/parts of a/c structures, systems and their components;

  • Performing Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) tasks and reporting procedures as directed by FCLE;

  • Performing the Spectrometric Oil Analysis of a/c engines and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU);

  • Developing, written NDI procedures which require final approval from the responsible NDI Level 3 Authority;

  • Performing NDI of structures inside a/c integral tanks;

  • Inspecting/testing and certifying the condition of new parts stored at supply locations;

  • Providing technical information on NDI capabilities, assisting subject matter experts, attending technical meetings and recommending;

  • methods to improve conduction of NDI procedures;

  • Supporting the evaluation of equipment change proposals, modifications etc;

  • Functioning as technical publications, Consolidated Tool Kit (CTK) and tool monitor;

  • Providing inputs on training analysis, required level of learning and method of delivery related aspects and supporting courses as directed;

  • Conducting On-the-Job Training (OJT) and advising newly assigned personnel;

  • Maintaining NDI related equipment, inspection and maintenance records, and responsible for the management of NDI facilities at the Main Operating Base (MOB);

  • Operating logistics related computer terminals; motor vehicles, support and test equipment;

  • Performing general housekeeping duties, including ground snow/ice removal.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential Qualifications

  • Higher Secondary education and completed intermediate vocational training encompassing NDI, or Secondary education and completed appropriate advanced vocational training with at least 4 additional years post related, current professional experience;

  • Very good working knowledge and skills on Aerospace NDI methods and technique(s) to perform principal duties;

  • Very good working knowledge of a/c maintenance;

  • Good knowledge of product manufacturing of metal and non-metal (i.e. composites material);

  • Good working knowledge of interpreting technical publications and experience in independently analyzing and rectifying complex technical problems;

  • NDI Qualification EN 4179 / NAS 410 Level 2 on the following methods: Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Eddy Current Testing (ET);

  • Adequate English proficiency;

  • Adequate knowledge of Automatic Data Processing (ADP) systems.

The following would be considered as an advantage:

  • Completion of two years of approved post-secondary science or engineering program;

  • NDI qualification from Military/National or International standards or equivalent experience (certified USAF Non-Destructive Inspection course AFSC2A7X2) by previous organization;

  • Spectrometric oil analysis training.

  • NDI Qualification EN 4179 / NAS 410 Level 2 on the following method: Radiography (RT) and Ultrasonic (UT)

  • Knowledge of German language.

YOUR TEAM

The Logistics Wing (LW) is responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of the NE-3A fleet conducted at the Main Operating Base (MOB)/Forward Operating Bases/Location (FOBs/L) and other deployed locations to sustain delivery of the E-3A Component operational output. The Maintenance Production Squadron is responsible for the management of all short-term maintenance activities and executes all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance. The General Aircraft Maintenance Branch performs periodic phase/isochronal inspections, including all related functional checks of aircraft systems and aircraft structures at MOB. The Aircraft Inspection Section performs periodic phase/isochronal inspections, repairs and performs Organisational Maintenance on E-3A aircraft, repairs and performs Organisational Maintenance on E-3A aircraft Wheel &Tire, performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and AGE by NDl including participation in Joint Oil Analysis Programs, performs both corrosion control prevention measures on aircraft and aircraft components and secondary refurbishment of aircraft components.

CONTRACT

  • Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

  • Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter, an indefinite duration contract might be offered.
