About this position

The Strategic Corporate and Operations Data (SCO) Unit within the Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness (SPD) is responsible for corporate and operational data matters: coordinating data governance and privacy, and optimizing data use to ensure that relevant, high-quality data Is used responsibly, In alignment with Institutional policies and In support of strategic use cases. SCO is looking for a strategic, and collaborative data professional with strong communication and facilitation skills, who can work across departments and institutions to strengthen data governance, organizational integration, and alignment between governance and data use and support the responsible use of data as a shared institutional asset. This role operates at the intersection of data governance, change management, and cross-functional coordination, supporting both internal Bank-wide priorities and external collaboration with peer institutions.

This role operates along two mutually reinforcing pillars:

1. Data Governance Framework & Operating Model (structures, roles, stewardship, working groups).

2. Cross-functional Facilitation, Adoption & Strategic Data Use (working groups, coordination, shared definitions, classification and access practices).

What you’ll do

Data Governance:

  • Engage management, operational, and technical stakeholders to define, implement, and advance data governance, fostering clear accountability for stewardship of the Bank’s data assets and their use in reporting and analytical contexts.
  • Translate institutional policy requirements and industry best practices in data governance into practical, accessible guidance aligned with the Bank’s data maturity and analytical needs.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise data governance framework, with particular focus on corporate and operational data used for institutional reporting and decision-making.
  • Support and scale distributed governance (e.g., focal points, stewards), enabling business units to embed governance into day-to-day workflows that support consistent and reliable data for analysis.
  • Translate industry trends and emerging practices in data governance and responsible data use into practical institutional procedures aligned with the Bank’s data maturity and priority use cases.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of governance controls across initiatives and services, identifying gaps and proposing improvements that strengthen data quality, consistency and fitness-for-use.
  • Coordinate and support priority analytics initiatives by working with business units and technical teams to clarify requirements, align data readiness and governance conditions, and ensure initiatives leverage trusted, well‑governed data in support of institutional reporting and decision‑making.

Data Governance Coordination and Operating Model

  • Establish and coordinate cross-functional governance forums and working groups for corporate and operational data, including defining their operating model, scope, and engagement rhythm to support trusted data use across reporting and analytical needs.
  • Facilitate and mediate institutional alignment on governance roles and responsibilities, business rules, classification, access, shared standards that underpin consistent analytical outputs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of governance documentation such as charters, terms of reference, role definitions, and process documentation used by both data producers and data consumers.

Data Literacy, Communication, and Institutional Integration

  • Design and deliver training and awareness initiatives to strengthen data literacy, and understanding of how governed data is used for reporting and analysis and governance roles and responsibilities.
  • Lead internal communication and stakeholder engagement efforts, including events, workshops, and needs assessments, to increase adoption, visibility, and institutional integration of data governance and privacy functions across SPD and the Bank.

External Collaboration and Thought Leadership

  • Represent the Bank in external forums, synthesizing stakeholder input and facilitating structured exchanges on data governance and the responsible use of data for analysis and decision-making.

What you'll need

•    Education: Master’s degree in Information Technology, Data, Business Administration, Communications, Public Policy, or related fields 

•    Experience: At least five years of relevant experience in data governance, data policy, or related areas, with demonstrated experience working across functions and with senior stakeholders. Experience in IBD operation data is a plus. 

•    Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish; additional knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus

Type of contract and duration

•    Staff: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
