Organizational Setting

The Digital FAO and Agro-Informatics Division (CSI) is responsible for all Information Technology (IT) activities within the Organization, including defining IT policies, strategy, architecture, and standards, as well as delivering digital products and services that enable FAO’s global mandate.

Within CSI, the Digital Workplace workstream focuses on delivering modern, secure, and user-centric digital environments that enhance collaboration, productivity, and the overall employee experience across the Organization.

Under this workstream, the Digital Solutions unit is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of corporate systems and platforms, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions that support FAO’s core administrative and operational processes.

Within this context, the role requires strong subject-matter and technical expertise to ensure that ERP system is effectively managed, optimized, and aligned with organizational priorities, business needs, and quality standards. To support these objectives, FAO seeks to engage an ERP Technical Specialist to provide specialized technical knowledge and contribute to the efficient and effective management of the Organization’s ERP environment.


Reporting Lines

The ERP Technical Specialist, will work within the Corporate Systems area, under the direct supervision of the relevant Information Technology Officer and overall guidance of the Senior Information Technology Officer (Digital Solutions).

Technical Focus

The ERP Technical Specialist is expected to significantly contribute to the evolution and enhancement of ERP systems and technologies utilized by FAO and based on Oracle technologies (Oracle eBusiness Suite 12.2.15 and Fusion Applications). Work will include modernization of technical infrastructure, implementation of additional functionalities to expand core ERP capabilities, and development of additional business applications to complement the core ERP and expand automation capabilities utilizing the low-code development tools and integration tools. Additionally, the ERP Technical Specialist may be called upon to contribute to the migration of on-premise systems to cloud solutions (SaaS, PaaS).

The ERP Technical Specialist will work in the Corporate Systems team within the CSI Digital Solutions area and will liaise with various other technical teams within CSI.


Tasks and responsibilities

• Provide knowledge and guidance of Oracle ERP technology principles and best practices spanning multiple Oracle eBusiness Suite modules (e.g. General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Cash Management, Accounts Receivables, Fixed Assets, SLA, HR, Payroll).
• Contribute to business and scope analysis and gather and understand requirements for new functionalities and capabilities across multiple operational domains (e.g. Financials, HR, Procurement, Travel etc.)
• Design, build, implement and maintain the Organization’s ERP system functionality, customisations, extensions and personalization based on Oracle eBS technology stack to meet business requirements using established development standards and a range of tools and technologies (Forms, Reports, Workflows, OAF, AME, ADF, PL/SQL etc.)
• Design, build, implement and maintain the solutions to complement the core ERP functionality based on low-code development frameworks (such as Apex or VBCS) and Integration Cloud Platform (such as Oracle Integration Cloud)
• Contribute to architectural review of the current ERP Environment and work toward implementing a more modern architecture (on-premise or cloud-based) and enabling further functionalities. This may include extensions of the current functionalities and/or implementation of additional modules (cloud or on-premise)
• Help troubleshoot and determine the root cause for technical issues related to FAO’s ERP, in particular for those modules implemented such as: General Ledger, Account Payables, EFT, Account Receivables, Procurement, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, HRMS including core HR and OTL
• Ensure coherency and compliance with appropriate organizational standards in close collaboration with relevant CSI teams
• Design and execute cross platform testing and verification
• Ensure development standards, documentation and change management procedures are followed
• Recommend operational improvements to improve the efficiency of support processes
• Other related duties as needed

Minimum Requirements

• For Consultants: Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO / (For PSA.SBS:)in Computer Science or Mathematics, Statistics or related field. Consultants with bachelor`s degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
• For PSA: University degree (or technical degree/certificate) from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Computer Science or Mathematics, Statistics or related field..
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (R12.2) application and related tools and technologies
• Working knowledge of English.

• Demonstrated ability to interact with peers and clients in an effective and professional manner
• Demonstrated ability to draft clear and concise reports and to communicate complex technical information to non-technical
• colleagues in a simple manner
• Work experience in other international organizations and/or multiple locations


Selection Criteria

• Extent and relevance of experience in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 and/or Oracle Fusion Applications
• Proficiency with specific ERP Modules such as Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger (Including SLA), Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Payroll, EFT, Human Resources (core and SSHR), Oracle Advanced Benefits etc.
• Proficiency with specific tools and technologies such as Forms, Reports, XML Publisher, Workflows, OAF, ADF, AME, PL/SQL, Apex, Integration Cloud Services, RPA
• Extent and relevance of experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, management and peers
• Clear and effective verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of one of the other FAO official languages is an asset.
